  • Any races near Toledo, Oh next year?

We used to watch them run in Grand Rapids, Oh years ago. Just getting back into watching again. Just wondering if there is anything coming up near us next year. It's to bad they don't run in Grand Rapids any more.

TRORA used to have races at Waterville, OH and Defiance, OH which are nearby but haven't been there is a few years. Probably the closest current race sites would be either Akron, OH or Grass Lake, MI.

There's always Dayton, Ohio as well.

Are you interested in going for a ride in one or just watching?

I just bought a formula lite 45 tunnel hull to play around with at the lake. Just for fun. As I said we used to watch at Grand Rapids, and thought it would be cool to see them run again. I have been racing dragsters for the last 20 years, and if I go for a ride in one my wife knows it will be "game on, we are going boat racing". Thats why I bought the tunnel hull, just to have fun at the cottage. I am 41, and we used to watch them run when I was a kid. I have always wanted one, so I oppted for a little bigger version for fun.

              Check The Thread "Schedule"

I believe Steve French always begins a thread with the years schedule, for all regions. You might find the one listed as 2010 once it gets going and you can possibly locate something near you. There are a lot of races in Ohio and Michigan, even some in Indiana.

One thing, if you do go to spectate, hop right in the pits and talk to folks. Don't be scared to sign the liability waiver and get a wrist band. It usualy does not cost anything to get a wrist band. It just provides you with some insurance coverage should you be injured. Typical of most sporting events.

I want to come check out everything for sure. We ran drag boats for alot of years, and we used to watch you guys when we were little. Thought it would be fun to check it out again now that I am a "little" older. I know if I go, the wheels will be turning on the trip home. I have a 12' formula lite 45 that I am redoing now. But I have always liked the smaller boats to.

Trenton, MI, (not far) seems like they put on a good show (I hear).

                          Lake Loramie

I think Mike Marshall was looking into having a race for IOA at Lake Loramie. I don't know what the status is regarding that event. I remember something about IOA losing a couple of sites in Michigan and Lake Loramie would be an excellent replacement.
Come on down to our Akron, Ohio (Mid July) race on the Friday before the races. We have had testing at your own risk with an ambulance present. This year we had 3 people go for a ride in my C Stock Runabout.

I don't want to hijack this thread but just as an FYI there will be a few new CSR's / 25SSR's coming to Akron in 2010 via Michigan . I hear it's a heck of a venue. I also heard that there might be a marathon in the works for Akron.....Hmmmm ?

                              possible Trenton conflict

I know that its still too early to know the dates, but after reading through this thread again, there may be a conflict of dates between Akron and Trenton. I have mentioned to the Springfield Lakemore Festival Committee that the entire Lake could be used for running a marathon. They are positive about the idea. We have to sit down and look at class attendance numbers and time constraints to see what we can do. We put a lot of Stock and Modified classes on the schedule, but the numbers registered have fallen slightly short of our expectations
Skippy has been bitten by the marathon bug ever since he ran his first marathon at Grass Lake last fall. We're set up for closed course with our boats and motors. But I do have my last 55-H in the garage. HMMMM!!!!!
