I've no experience with Laydown hydros. But since nobody else has jumped in, (I think everyone's out racing this weekend) I'll throw in my two cents.
I would imagine you'll want to take any measurements in an "as raced" state. Testing is the best way to determine where the weight needs to be. I suppose the driver and fuel tank position are the only adjustable items. With everything else, it's gonna be what it's gonna be.
