  • Aluminum Hydro

This is certainly different and not bad looking. It weighs 125# without hardware. The pickles definately do not meet the rule

I've been to this guys shop... it's quite a setup. He's around the corner from where I work. He also has a turbine powered jet river racing boat as a toy and makes all kinds of neat things and his own turbos. His primary business is heavy equipment attachements.

Old-school technology. I believe there was an article in Boat Sport about a guy in Michigan with a wierd Italian-sounding name who had an aluminum outboard hydro in 1954. I don't remember what class it was for but do remember that it had an off-set cockpit- the first I had ever heard of.

So some guy makes another aluminum hydro 55 years later- big deal!

There's a guy down south somewhere whose father made one back in the 50's as well. From what I understand it is still in good shape.

I believe you're talking about Mike Petty from Florida. Mike used to host a boat racing website a few years back.

I don't remember the name of his web site, but it was an offshoot of C.O.R.E.
