It was a complete barrel roll - landed dry side up. He had hit a bouy an instant before - you can see traces of that bouy on the left sponson in the picture. He rolled during a very heated battle with Tammy Wolf Jacob. Sam was driving like he was on fire trying to catch Tammy in the pink boat.
The entire heat gave us some of the best racing of the day.
Actually I was it third and Sammy was competing for fourth place with Mike Hooper
