Looks like boat will be ready for this weekends race at Silver Lake Eatonville. Things went very well until it came time to lay decks down...I purchased (2) sheets of Okume 4 mil plywood....at over $80 dollars a sheet. (Ouch) I found out the hard way that 2 sheets were not quite enough wood to do both sides of boat...it is just long enough that when the pieces are cut out, there is not enough wood left to do the back part of the decks. So, I was lucky enough to have some scrap 4 mil left over from previous boat. That being said, the decks looked ok when I was done....But, when I layed epoxy down, it was way to hot in Seattle...and the epoxy set to fast on the wood, and looked like crap. I tried to sand it all off, but it then looked even worse. Sigh. So, for this weekend, Boat will have a heavy coat of white epoxy primer on it, just so I can run the dang thing. What a dissapointment. When race is over sunday, I will start pulling decks off and re-do them. Hey, it's only money.

Just curious what are the dimensions on you new "D" if you don't mind my asking.
Length, afterplane and tunnel. Just wondered how it stackes up compared to the New 125/OSY400 I am building.

Yah...from 10 feet away it looks fine..some people would not care how it looks, but I would never keep a boat like this for any length of time...It is just not me. It will look fine when I lay new decks down. This thing is quite a bit bigger then a C stock boat...the diminsions are as follows: Afterplane is 84, sponsons are 56, bottom is 39.75 inches wide, right sponson has 2 chines, left sponson has one chine, there is no tunnel, with the prop height of the Tohatsu i don't think a tunnel is the way to go...but who knows. I also put in 1/2 inch of twist into it....a little more then most people, but if it does not work or turn well that aspect is easy enough to change. Any other questions I will be happy to answer.

Not a problem Darren. I have allready purchased a new battery for rig, and have your battery on charger. It will be nice and fresh for you this weekend. I am very tempted to leave rig at home and focus on Lawrence. I do not use West System...I use stuff from Tap plastics. It is one to one ratio....I mix it up for 2 minutes, then add a few capfulls of acetone. It was very hot the day I layed it down, and I decided to pur it over decks then use a sqeegee to move the stuff around. I was suprised that it set so quick..it was all lumpy and stuff. If you have any ideas...sugjestions i am all ears.

Some like the West and some dont. I happen to like it alot. After I have the decks on and I am done with the filler over the staples I knock the whole boat down with the 120 to open the grain. I mix the west and pour it a little at a time onto a piece of wood like a working platform and I roll it on the boat like paint with a 3 inch west roller and then I tip it off lightly from front to back with a fine china brissle brush. I found that doing it this way keeps the coats thin and even over the whole boat. It usually takes 3 thin coats to make it perfect but it will be like glass. Give it a shot like that, I bet you like it. Also dont work against the heat, I run west last thing in the day, it is usually cooler and people arn't raising dust in the shop. good luck

Dave, I am going to pick up 6MM Okoume plywood at Windsor Plywood in Spokane for $66.21 a sheet and $53.49 for 4mm. Do you have one of there stores near you?

Dave, Try System 3. Made in Seattle. I use NBR 2 hardener. NEVER NEVER thin with Acetone. Use Denatured Alcohol or Lacquer Thinner. For best results apply Epoxy with a falling temp.
