I just checked with the organizer for the race and she said the water level should be perfect!!!!!!!! No more pitting in the parking lot like last year. The beer tent will be fully stocked and ready for us for Sat night. I think we will have to bring our own Jaeger Bombs though!!!!! I have an idea for Sat. races, let me know what you think. I was thinking we should have the three largest classes on Sat. do a driver introduction before we start the first heat of the race. What we want to do is have all the drivers pull their boats to the beach area of the pits in front of the spectators. We will line them up and all drivers and crew will stand next to their boat. The announcer will announce each driver with a brief bio of where you are from and some highlights of your racing career. We will give a quick wave to the crowd and will be ready to start the heats. What does everybody think? I think it should only add about 20 minutes to the day.

                      Count me in

Been planning on coming all summer. Will bring a DH, EH, and if the kid doesn't make it I might give ER a shot unless I come to my senses before then. Mike Franck 67G

                        Introductions

                        Keith,

Sounds like a great idea. I also think it is a great idea for the parade lap to the winner. I wish we could have worked that out for Centrallia, there was a lot of folks there watching.

Any chance on having a raffle to the spectators to win a ride at the end of racing Saturday ? Make it cheap or even free tickets. I might be able to volunteer to take them for a ride in the SEH if it is a child or small adult. I would prefer a kid to win, as this is where our growth would come from.

                          Raffle for a ride

Thats a good idea. I will have to look into that and see if we can make it work. We are doing a celebrity race on Sat. morning that will include two mayors of a couple sponsoring towns, it will also include a national radio personality who is syndicated all over the country.

                            Keith,
I'm planning on being there with an AH and CSH. Of course I was planning on making Centralia too, but that nasty work thing got in the way of that weekend.

Stock nationals at Grass lake announced the lineup for each final from one spot and it really made each final special. They also did a victory lap (just along the front pit/beach area) for the winner that also went over very well.

How about another end of the day Grand Prix with a beach start like you did the first year at lake shelbyville? That was fun!

                            Good luck,
                            Brent Simmons

Keith, the driver intro and the victory lap don't add much time to the schedule and I think it would really help build rapport with your spectators (thank god someone gets spectators!!!) Anyway... Right On...good idea!

I will not be at Shelbyville, although I'd planned to all along. Despite having two motors down (which could both be ready by that time) I have to be on a plane the next morning for a week's work in the Carolinas and it's a long drive back from Shelbyville to catch a plane the next morning!

Good luck on that race and keep up the good work on such a great sponsorship package and community involvement!
