lol yes i did by eckerts stuff, from wat i was told back then is that 20 ssh was a dead class that was coming back.. i would by a sidewinder in a second if i had the money to buy one, i have nothing against that motor. i myself got into 20ssh because of my weight,, i am putting 30 pnds of led to make weight.. and i was prt of the 25% that left 20 ssh for a few years,, i thought i would give the local dirt track a try and after a couple years, i realized that nothing compares to the water. i have hit a few boat races up over my time away, jumped in eqiuptment that was always middle of the pack runner and took it to the front.. there is more than just having a good motor to get you to the front of the pack.. if the sidewinder ws ready for 20 i would definetly give it a try,, i am just at the point i am going to be looking for j//a rig for my wife and daughter to start,,, my 5 yr old wants to race!

Leasing

This translates to huge bucks, robotic instrument 50K, GPS unit 25K, etc. I can't afford to lay out the cash, so I go the lease route with a $1.00 buy-out at the end of the lease. You can also purchase maintenance agreements, the same could possibly work with racing engines. The maintenance would be great for the non motorhead, you would always have a competetive motor. Isn't this the way the Indy Car series works?

Yes I agree this should be a very lively debate no doubt, I will also set it up so that viewers can take part right from HR without switching over to HRTV should they choose to take part from right here. Either way its sure to be a good one!
I have only run this software one time prior to this live show so wish me luck

You guy wont belive it but I have the whole thing figured out, Check this out...Sidewinders are not the only good things coming out of the Runne camp John and Ryan build some of the best Hydro's you can get and Worm is a wizard with runabouts. So...You talk to a finance company and get a lender willing to work with a shell company (preferably an LLC) Call it "The right stuff LLC" or whatever. Offer a top level hydro or runabout with a New amearican built Sidewinder. A loan for 8 grand at a reasonable intrest rate boils down to about 160-170 a month. Get with Lifeline for a package special. and now that same guy who might be teetering on getting involed has an option. Now the door is still open to newbies even to newbies who might not be as mechanically inclined as some of the guys who get dirty to go racing. You add to your campain a vote to loosen the rules a little for "B" mod runabout so the current 80 guys dont have to have such a unique boat to race "B" mod runabout (a great ride I might add). And a five year plan to phase out the 80 in 25ssr. See how it goes and if it works talk then about 20ssh. And everyone is happy. On a side note..I am willing to make parts for folks interested in "B" mod.Last edited by Sonny; 08-19-2009, 05:31 PM.Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.

One of the suggestions in the past is just go to mod. That is fine except that solution sure does nothing to help the stock outboard classes, does it.
This is a good subject and I am sure there is a lot more ideas to come. I do think that the cost to get started for new folks is getting worse in a difficult economy. Take as a good example a used engine such as the Yamato 80 or 102 for around $1200 vs $4500 for a new Sidewinder plus safety gear and boat. I also realize that other sports cost a lot more to get into but we are not talking about them. We are talking Hydro Racing with Outboards.
Yamato 302 engines can be purchased direct from the Yamato website.

Why do you have to phase out a motor to bring a new one in?
Make the stock category more like the pro and allow all legal and prior legal motors legal to race. That way everyone can race within thier budgets.Sattler Racing R-15

Propnuts - ie. 25xs - Within the last couple of years there has been a great effort by some of the 25 drivers to build their class. The SORC has cooperated with them by opening up some specs & to allow parts to be used that were previously not stock parts for those motors. Primarily allowing different model years. The drawback to this is, much like the old Mercs in the seventies, very few people can recognize what combination of parts makes the best motor. The result of that is dominance by a few people that have that expertize and the rest are on a whole different level. We currently have the same situation in the "B" (15SS) classes where very few have the expertize or resources to compete on the highest level. Of course, the other drawback is if you want to race that class you will have difficulty finding the right parts (dumpster diving ).
These are among the situations the SORC is trying to deal with because before we can put a strong effort to promote the sport, we have to have equipment available for new people and have a promotable product.John Runne

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.
True parity is one motor per class.
It's RACING, not just another boat ride!
