It's still kicking around at Greg O'Farrells shop. I don't know if it's in good enough condition to be a backup boat or not, but presumably if needed it could be. The reason it's not running is that the Navy quit sponsoring the boat. As is O'Farrell basically canned the Lakeridge paving team (crew and driver), and shifted the Navy team from last year to the U-48 boat. As I understand it they are working on getting a new boat built in order to be competitive in the future, although I cannot personally verify this. I wish them all of the luck in the world, and enjoyed my time as a U-48 crew person as I got to work with a great bunch of people.
