Quick temp mods?

It was suggested in an earlier thread "it's about the weight" that if I ran DSH I could also run 750ccMH and even 850ccMH with the same set-up just to gain exp. I was wondering if there were any "quick mods" that could be easily bolted on/off between races that would allow me to keep my engine Stock for DSH and kinda Stock+ for the Mod classes. I know I can change to a 4 blade prop and that is pretty easy but I just wondered if there was anything simple that can be done (and just as simply undone).

Not that I am aware of. Any mods you would want to make on that engine would make it way to fast, and would be internal. I don't think that is legal at this point. it has been discussed and even a rule proposed to allow internal mods, but it not pass the vote. I do beleive there is no height restriction in MOD for the engine.

I beleive the NBRA opened up the rules on it as well, allowing some mods. Not positive as of yet, but I heard that. I will know more after the Nat's when I get a chance to investigate.

Just buy a d-stock and run it in D-Stock, D-Mod, and FE (850). You can get more than enough laps during a weekend doing that. I've seen stockers win in modified races

If you want to experiment with props (can get expensive) you can buy a 4 blade or two to run in the mod classes. I think that the better thing to do would be work on your stock legal props and set-up while racing with the mods. You may not (although you may) win the mod races but you'll be getting some good testing for your stock races.

especially in Reg10...........where D stock and Dmod run at every race..........more than enough racing to wear a new guy out!!!

PS: the Tohatsu is only a probationary motor in Dmod (750CC), but legal in FE (850CC) with full tilt mods..........

besides the 4 blade, you can also "jack up" the motor, as there is no height restriction in mod......

That's what I do now with the 22-OMC A-MOD (Cept I use Hi-temp "silly" cone).
20-minutes to take stock exhaust cover off......bed in filler block......bolt on side cover/megaphone.......1/4-3/8" bigger o/d prop...........25MOD
Add 25 pounds'a lead.........B-MOD.

Can do the same with the 25SS Merc.

If you have everything fitted, and use the red silicone, you can do it in probably 5 - 10 minutes. Espceially if you use modern tools, like a cordless impact wrench. Can't use it putting the elbos on, but if you are handy, and use the Bayer nuts, you can do it fairly fast. Not sure how reliable it would be if done in a hurry, the Red Silicone needs to set up good and hard before you run it, otherwise a stocker might whip your butt. In addition, simply bolting on a set of pipes to a Merc 44 will not get you the advantage needed to win races. You need to port it for the runabout or hydro. And no, I don't have specs.
