    1. We had revolution make up a bottom and deck piece larger than damage. They also sent e-glass and instructions.
    2. Removed damaged top and bottom and shaped replacement pieces.
    3. Glassed bottom piece in first and let layup cure 1 day.
    4. Glassed top deck into place along with 3M 5200 at outside edge overlap seam.

Everything is good as new! The nose piece will be replaced with lexan.

Will report back once in Grass Lake on whether it still floats like a cork

My Rev hydros are a composite .... a composite or composition of gel coat/glass layer/kevlar/foam core/outerlayer of carbon fiber.

I believe I posted such back in 2008 on this site. Thanks for the question though. Hopefully, you'll be at Nationals and can see them run.

        Back to thread topic.......

          Albino Carbon

My 250cc Revolution hydro has required some externsive modifications. I added deeper steps to the bottom of the sponsons and pulled the bottom loose to add more lift. Upon inspection it revealed either an albino carbon was used or just plain old e-glass. Which is much heavier and cheaper than Carbon Fiber. When I sanded on the bottom it was also white under the colored gell coat. As far as I can tell the only Carbon used is in areas that you can see. Thats probably why the 110lb boat that I paid for weighs 140lbs
          Just an observation......

thread topic ..... composite repair of our hydro

Thanks for the added info..... I'll defer to the boat builders (about specifics) which I'm not .....

The topic of this thread is about how does a non-boat builder "repair his composite" boat because people had inquired.

It is fixed ... with thanks to Revolution, Carl Lewis, and Kyle Bahl.

Another topic could be about how these boats hold up in an accident, build time, cost, weight (mine 112 not 90),materials, racing performance .... Feel free to start another thread.
