    I spoke with Missy a bit ago, she is on her way to the hospital as they took the breathing tube out and he is awake and off of the medication. He is breathing well on his own and is aware of his surroundings. They are still in the early stages of recovery, will let you know more as the updates come in.

      I remember Kay when we raced B mod. hydro together. He was the only guy that I know who when he got on plane he would reach over to his sponson's corks and take them out. after the race he would put them back. One of the best drivers during his time....Doc

          Selfless Kay Story......

          So Sad to hear of your accident Kay. Hope you're up and about soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
          I'll never forget Kay's selfless act at a Lakemore, Ohio race years ago when my 700 hydro crapped out in the middle of the lake. Kay drove up in his 500 hydro and switched boats with me. He had pre registered at registration for me in case what happened did. His motor started back up right in the water and it allowed me to go on and win the race and high point. A truly selfless act from one of the best gentleman racers I've ever met.

              Kay has been doing good breathing on his own, but the swelling in the brain is still a major concern. Hopefully we will hear more today. He is at the Cleveland Metro hospital for those of you who wish to send cards.

                  I know they moved Kay out of the ICU but have not heard much on any changes in his condition.

                    Get better quick, Kay;
                    I've known and respected Kay for 40 years. There's no one who cared more about PRO racing. He put enormous energy into the USTS, and PRO racing in general. We're thinking of you; quick recovery, Kay.

                      Kay has now been moved to the Rehab floor and can begin receiving flowers and cards. He is at Cleveland metro floor 8A room 804. He is still very confused, in a lot of pain and aggitated, so I would hold off on the phone calls, but things are looking up.

                              I received a call from Kay a few minutes ago. It is the first time he has been able to put enough words together to talk on the phone. Although he still has a long way to go it is a major step in his recovery. He is still not ready to take calls but don't be suprised if he calls you if he is feeling up to it.

                              His first question to me was " are the engines ready for the Nationals". That did not surprise me at all.

                              More news when I have some.

                              Todd
