  • Any Racing In Texas?

Hello, Im New To This Site, I am Interested in The Knee Boats. I had One when I was In High School,we Just Played at the Lake With It, But I Have Wanted One again. I saw some for sale In The North US, I Remember the Plans For a Boat Built By I Think Hal Kelly Tested Plans? Does any body Run These Type Of Boats In Texas? I Race R/C Boats Now And Am a Dealer for Hulls, Motor, and Hardware also. I Have the Old Shovelnose Hydros In Wood and In Glass, They are 55in In Length and run a watercooled 2 cycle Gas Motor, Must have a Driver and Exhaust Must exit Out the rear Of the Hull. Any Help On The Real Boats would Be Great. Thanks Bill Pendleton

    Welcome

There are no scheduled outboard races in Texas this season as far as I know. The nearest would be Oklahoma. Check out the NBRA web site- www.racenbra.com for there schedule. Also, there is a competitive C Stock Hydro complete rig for sale.

The Hal Kelly plans are 50 - 60 years old and boat designs have changed considerably and those boats are not competitive any more. As stated above there is NBRA Mod racing in Oklahoma and Louisiana. Pure stock outboard racing is more to the East, Northeast, and upper Midwest and the West Coast. Alcohol burning or Pro racing is scattered all over and you have to do a lot of traveling to race an alcohol burner. To see more about this division go to ustitleseries.org. And, there are some Pro racers in Texas, but no Pro races. Good luck! And, by-the-way very, very nice looking models. - Tim Chance, Saint Louis, Y-200

          Texas racing on the horizon

          Hi Bill,

There is a small group of us Texas-based kneeldown racers working to bring the sport back to the state in the near future. Send me a private message or email to lungfish47 at hotmail dot com and I'll get you involved in the email string.

          Thanks,

I'm in Texas, (Brenham) half way between Houston and Austin, and this is my first year getting back into it.

If I can help you with information, call me.

              In Austin

              Mike,
My sister (Pam) is in Austin and is dying for a good A race. I'll PM you her # if you'd like. Who would think that one day a Hauenstein and a Wilde might race out of TEXAS! I would love to see it and might have to drop off her boat and join you all.(sorry, not from TX, can't say ya'll).
