  • Foam Padding

I am looking for some foam padding to pad the cockpit of my boat. I see that Mcmaster Carr has many different types of foam. Any recommendations on the type of foam and where to buy it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    David

David - I'm not sure what it is but I picked up several sheets from a place here in Saint Louis and brought it up to Mike Krier when I got my new boat. It is what he uses in the Krier Runabouts. Get in touch with Mike or maybe I can remember what it is. - Tim Chance

        Walmart

The best foam padding that I use in the safety cells and in the hydro's is .50" thick gray foam that is actually sold in a pack at Walmart in the sporting good section. It comes in 24" square sheets and is used for flooring for gym workout equipment. This stuff is tough and cheap, like $15 for a pack of four or five 24" square sheets. Glues up easy with contact cement.

I buy all of my foam from Portage Bay Systems and he ships right to your door. He has an ad on this site.

              Great padding

I have been buying Rubatex closed cell foam in 1 inch sheets for years. You can find in on line at W.W. Granger as item number 3F416 and a 36"x48"sheet sells for $32.95. It is chemical and solvent resistant so gas will not bother it. You can also find it on page 3433 of there cataloge number 390.
