  • Racer Turnout so far?

We were just curious as to the turn out at races so far in this bad economy. Our club has had about half of the racers show up for our two races as compared to previous years.

We are hoping turn out improves on the 4th of July for our Western divisionals.

Our Vermont race had upper 60's for boat turn outs, and Standish Maine boat turn out was in the 70's I believe... hasn't seemed to hold many people back here in region 1. I dont plan on missing any races this year.

Also, has the site and date been determined for the Stock Outboard Nationals for next year (2010) or is it to early?

I wish we could come close to that.

2nd week of Aug so as not conflict with the Pro Nationals at Depue. RV parking will be available at the race site but not in the pits for a fee. No hook ups. working on Lav dump service and potable h20. We do not want to plug up the pit area with RVs.
Working with the Feather Falls Casino to be the host hotel. More later.
The race site is the Thermalito South Forebay off of Grand ave. see Google maps It is not at lake Oroville.

Constintine Michigan last weekend had 137 entries. All Stock and 3 mod classes.850,750,(500-400) combined. Previous weekend at Augusta Michigan we had 80 entries ( all stock & marathon for CSR and ASR. Looks like turn out has been about what we always have seen. Mikey

                      We're doing OK I think

I don't have the numbers to back it up, but it seems in region 10 that we've pulled in enough new racers over the last few years that we've been able to stay about even this year. That's just an eyeball in the pits guess though.

                        About Same

I have been to two races this year, Huntington IN (IOA Mod Race) and we had 112 entries, not to bad. A few stocks were on the schedule, but only ASH showed with enough numbers to race.

Raced in Constantine last weekend as Mike mentioned the entires.

Have not seen a serious decline in attendance yet. Next year might be worse as the economy catches up to us. Who knows, lets hope not. As gas prices rise through the summer, numbers of entires will go down.

Seems we are having problems with our stock classes this year. Very unusual but our SE class has been the strongest so far. At least we have a couple guys from Seattle coming to run stock at our Western Divisionals on the 4th of July.
