    Sunday at Constantine

Well today (Fathers Day!)was HOT. Dead calm and muggy. BUT everyone still had a great time. Why?,because they were boat racing!

The "Race For Kaos" Kevin Ladd memorial race was a race created in Kevins memory for the 20SSH class. The compitition was tough and the defending champion Tim Sidor just couldn't seem to get the start clock thing down. He jump started all weekend long in this class except one heat. I guess that shows you how nervous he was of the other racers beating him. When the final rooster tails settled the top three finishers in this memorial race for 2009 were as follows.

    1st. ------ Bill Hemp -------- 1025 points
    2nd ------ Ed Harrington ---- 823 points
    3rd ------ Mark Miskerik ----- 750 points

Congrats guys on some great racing!

        More Sunday action

Well the kids had fun today as well. Lots of thrills and spills. Steven McCourty was fast as usual in the AXSR class but got a dunking in the first turn when his boat fliped sideways. Jake Alkima went for a swim in turn 3 when his boat decided he wasn't needed anymore in the cockpit. The cool thing was dad dindn't have to dry the motor out as the boat stayed upright. Lora Wheeler had a good run again in JH with a good battle in the second heat taking the win by inch's. Andrew Kiddy was smoking fast in the junior runabout class taking the win overall. New comer to the junior class Will Apholters (long time racer Mike Apholters son) proved he can mix it up as well. Great job Will.

                Burgers you say!

Well the American Legion of Constantine #223 had the usual fin food to keep all the racers and crew going. Best **** hamburgers you ever had. Thanks to Joe and all the volunteers from the hall that do so much to make this one of the best race sites to attend in the country.

                  Dave Mason

Dave came back to try a repeat win in FEH Sunday only to find out his new boat does not like being raced with a mercury gear foot. Dave blew the side wall out of his boat when it decided to make a left hand turn going down the back straight. Dave was ok but back to the shop for some boat repair work.

                    Tow rigs

Just had to take some shots of the awesome tow rigs at the race. These rigs are thought out and very functional.

Eat all your breakfast young man

And finally the last one of my pictures of this thread. Jerid Oberlin from Ga. was presented with this great looking breakfast from the American Legion post only to show a look that he really wasn't into eating and would rather be out playing with his new found friends at Constantine.

Thanks for all those that attended this years race and to MHRA for doing a great job as usual.

                          Nice posts and pic's Tom!

Real nice job Tom, what a great week-end of racing. Had a great time, met some nice folks. Constantine is a great race site and MHRA did it's usual 'superb' job. Hey Tom, how the heck did I miss seeing you this weekend? Oh well, at another race I suppose. KampKurz

                              Father's Day Tribute and Prayer

Several people have asked me for the text of the Father's Day Tribute and Prayer I read on Sunday Morning over the Public Address System. Here it is. Enjoy.

"Honor your father and mother.” This is the first of the Ten Commandments that ends with a promise. And this is the promise: If you honor your father and mother, "you will live a long life, full of blessing.”

Fathers are the biggest source of strength for a child. The innocent eyes of a child perceive father as the all-powerful, most knowledgeable, truly affectionate and the most important person in the family. For daughters, fathers are the first men they adore and fall in love with. While for sons their fathers are the strongest person they know and someone they aspire to emulate. Even for the grownups, fathers are someone whom they look up to for the most experienced and honest advice that is always in the best of our interest.

For this great figure in our life that we know as Father - it becomes our utmost duty to pay our humblest tribute on the occasion of Father's Day.

Please bow your heads and pray for God's special blessing.

Heavenly Father, You are the one who knows how absolutely special fathers are. You made them that way. How else can a man work so hard, give so much, and love unconditionally, without your strength?

So first, Lord, thank You for fathers... for daddies - for big, strong men with tender hearts, with hands that are calloused and rough, yet so soft and gentle when hearts need mending. Lord, help children to delight this day in being with their dads, even if it is only in spirit. May the precious memories flow, bring laughter, and new love and appreciation.

Lord, please take care of our dads. Though they are strong, they have their insecurities too. Lord, when their hearts break because they can't do it all for us, please let them know how much we love them; and how much You love them.

Lord, for that Father who has lost a child, please let him know You are there, right beside him, for nothing else can heal a heart so torn.

For the Father who is parenting alone, strengthen him with your love.

For those whose father is already with You, Give him a hug from his children, Lord.

                              ***

To all of the Fathers, and you, too, Lord:

                              Happy Father's Day!

                              Amen.
                              14-H

"That is NOT why people hate me." - 14-H.
