    Water level and pit situation?

Just wondering if the high water has receeded any and if we will be parking out on the street again? We will be coming in on Thursday so I guess we'll find out when we get there, but I'm still curious about what's up there.

Nice water for testing Friday and the humidity was down. Saturday calling for 90 and a chance of an isloted t-storm , hopefully they stay away and there is good racing. Here are a few more pictures from Friday testing.

These are some great pictures. What kind of a camera set up are you using?

                  Thanks

I have a Canon XSI with a 75-300mm IS zoom lens and for these I used a circular polarizing filter. It is the first time I used the filter and I really liked the results. I dont know if you have ever been to DePue , but it is a good place to take pictures. The lake sits below where the spectators are and you can get a good angle to shoot from.

By the way , as a race fan and not a racer , thanks for keeping the site up and running , it sounds like it is in good hands.

                    Nice pics racingfan1!

I agree that DePue is one of the best locations around. You should try shooting from a patrol boat if you have a chance. Photo ops are amazing and will give your reflexes a work out. Will you be at the Pro Nationals next month?

                      Thanks

Thanks Photogirl - Yes I will be there and I am planning on getting to Constantine the week before also, by then I am hoping to have a new Canon "L" lens , if the budget permits. I spent many years in a tow boat at DePue before I got the camera bug , I wish I had it back then. Hope to see you there.

I have been using a Canon XSI also with a 100-400 lens with IS. Absolutely love it. I used to use a polarizing filter on my Ricoh 35mm film camera but haven't tried on the Canon. (I would have to buy one that fits) The color is just so clear and bright on the photos you have taken.

I also have a 75 - 250mm with IS, I think I have a polarizing filter that fits that I may have to try it. Did you make any special adjustments or were you shooting in the auto mode?

Actually these were all taken on auto mode. It was a bright sunny day and when it is like that I have found auto is just as good as messing with stops and ISO's. The circular polarizing filter really helps. The one I bought is made just for digital cameras. It is a little more pricey but I think worth it. I was hoping to get more pictures today but the wind blew around 15 - 20 mph and they ran 2 or 3 heats and called it a day.
