  • Old Age+ Treachery+ Sidewinder

    Hey All,
68yrs+4 days, Steve Wilde won(dominated) ASH at Oroville today. The motor was a loner from McKay-Schwartz(Thank You). You had to be there to see the look on his face. The field included: Jean, Lombardo and Troy Christie. Happy birthday Pop.

How did the sidewinder perform compared to the OMC? Same props? Power through the turns? Top end speeds? Consistancy? Start in the water? etc.

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.

True parity is one motor per class.

It's RACING, not just another boat ride!

      Setup

Pop used same boat, prop, and height and angle as he does with the OMC(MAx height 3/16 tuck). The boat was just quick all the way around. Extra bonus, the weight difference got pop back down to 345 on the scales. Started it in the water, no lifting, quick on plane.

        Sidewinder

        To All,

From what Dan Schwartz told me is that this A Sidewinder runs like a good OMC A motor. So someone could get this motor and start running up in front, depending on boat and prop of course. But the same boat and prop will work just fine.

So it looks like they have accompilshed what they were going to accomplish. Make a motor that runs like a good OMC A motor but not any faster.

And you don't have to Blue Print it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Steve, take it to Grass Lake.

        Good Luck To All.

Thanks for the report. We saw similar results at the Winter Nationals in ASR. My brother Richard ran it and was competative with the top runners, no better / no worse. We've also seen similar results with the 15SS (current BSR,BSH). Mike Kench ran it on the hydro and Darren Gallagher ran it on the runabout at Lambertville. The motor starts in the water 1st or 2nd pull, planes off quickly and runs strong all the way around the course. It looks like Racing Outboards has nailed it and will be worth the wait. Can't wait for the bugs to be worked out on the 20 cuber, my boat is under construction as we speak.

Yes your right. 2 out of the 2 boats you borrowed, you broke. 1 of them the race was over and you still managed to wreck. At least you got the win!
