  • Calling all Marathon drivers!

MHRA kicks off the first marathon race of 2009 with the "Smoke on the water" Eagle Lake race in Augusta,Mi. June 13th and 14th. Do to the 2009 Grass Lake Nationals we will be short one marathon race this year because we will not be having the usual marathon we have at Grass Lake. Sooooo I encourage all the marathon drivers to attend the Eagle Lake races. We will have two days of 20 minute marathon racing on our marathon course this year and it will test your skills. If you have any questions feel free to post them here or visit the MHRA web site. This is a great tune -up race for Trenton our Top'O. We look forward to another great turn out this year.

          Marathon....Yes!

After hearing about how nice the race went last year, of course I'll be there. Will the course be like Grass lake? Big Rapids? No matter, let's hope it get's rough. Not Top'O rough,, but rough. KampKurz

            Great!

            Mark -

That would be great if you come down. Many of the nations top drivers raced this marathon last year. McCourtie,Parks,Kerr,Belmer,Umbarger just to name a few.
Yes the course layout is very similar to Grass Lake. We use a portion of the short course with a dog leg part way down the back streach that shoots you over to far side of the lake. The water was suprising last year as it kicked up pretty good with boat wake half way thru the race to make it challenging for even the most seasoned marathon driver. This place will not tear up your equipment as Top'O has been known to do however. Bring down some of those Indian river racers with you and lets see what they can do. This race site is awesome as you will see.

              Nice pics Tom!

Nice....Thanks Tom, I've got my campsite reserved, and am looking forward to it. Jim Powell will be bringing a DSR, I think he'll run short course as well. I may run short course, but it will be for experience, the Ropp was built to plow through Burt and Mullet, a little slower than the short course boats.
I talked to Umbarger a couple days ago. He was off on his dates.... actually has a golf outing planned for that weekend. When I informed him of the proper date, he said," Well, I may NOT be in a golf outing that weekend." I know he just got a new prop. Let's see....props or golf clubs, hmmmm, I know my choice.
