  • ??? Will Anyone Attend Elizabeth City ??

We have only received 3 responses as far as attending the International Cup Regatta in Elizabeth City, NC on June 5 - 7. It would be nice to hear if anyone else will be coming or not. We are trying to provide a venue to allow for more racing for everyone as that has been a large comment as to not having enough places to race.

What's up?? Why?? We would like to know.

    PLEASE POST HERE.

    Thanks, Carolina Cup Regatta

        What Can We Do??

Thanks for planning to attend Devin and JT! Look forward to seeing you there.

I joined the HR Forum back in January and have been trying to promote the four races/events that the Carolina Cup Regatta Inc. is involved in setting up and promoting. My first was about a new race coming back to Manteo, NC. The people in Manteo contacted us to assist them in bringing back racing to their area, Roanoke Rapids also contacted us to assist them with a race there. Some of you here know what it takes to setup and run a race, possibly some do not. All I can say is that some people in CCR are busting their back bumpers to get something going. I know that I have been doing as much as I can and L.E. has been burning the midnight oil since November last year in promoting these events. We just had our "Vintage and Testing Event" understandably many inboard and outboard boats/drivers had events that weekend but only 9 "Vintage" boats showed up! Last year and this year vintage was begging for more exposure so we stepped up and provided an event, wow 9 out of over 40 just in region 4. What are we to think, what are we to do, shall we think about continuing?

We Need Your Support, We Need Your Attendance, We Want To Provide an Arena and Above All WE WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY AND HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! Spectators from this past Vintage Weekend Loved it all, those that came were Great Promoters to the Public and We Thank each and everyone.

Help us to help you, give us your recommendations, give us your ideas and help us find out what works. We wish that we had perfect water, pits, weather etc but we have to work with what is available to us by local restrictions and availability. I wish that Manteo was not saltwater but that is what's available, a little wash & rinse will take care of that imo.

Anyway, Thanks for letting me rant, I'm just trying to learn.

        Bob K.

"QUOTE FROM" April 6, Update Region 4
        Howdy all,

Just wanted to post an update to the NE North Carolina Races. This is a heads up to all, Vintage, Inboard, Outboard, Js, Stock, Mod, Pro Hydro/Runabout.

Please take a few minutes and check the posted links. These links will bring you directly to the Carolina Cup Regatta Web Site and the individual events.

As of today, ALL Scheduled Events are still on the calendar for the posted dates. Manteo has been highly questioned and shunned by some but it is still one of our Major Projects. For some out there if you think about it seriously, being scheduled for the 26th & 27th of September this race could put you back in the points running, gain you positions, solidify your place standing on one hand. On the other with only one race after Manteo you could loose a lot by not coming. This should be a very enjoyable event.

Our Club meeting is scheduled tomorrow evening at 7pm in the Elizabeth City, NC Court House at 7pm. If you have any questions, Please contact Carolina Cup Regatta via our Web Site or you may contact me via my Club e-mail at

This is not a huge inboard member web-site. Hopefully, the Region 3,4, 14 and 5 inboard drivers will attend. The SO schedule is limited and I believe there is a larger race the following weekend in Tabor City, NC. This may negatively impact youur SO attendance.

Good Luck. IT is a nice inboard site for sure.

Franklin, Lambertville, E-city, Tabor City. 4 races back to back on a recession type budget.

                Thank you David & Ian!

I know that this is not a big inboard site, that is why I have taken the time to join this site. We want to support boat racing. Yes, we have been running an inboard event here for the past 3 years, this year will be the 4th we have done this. In our meetings since last July we discussed this fact, we believe that we can provide for both inboard and outboard venues. We may not have the best classes at this point but no-one has sent any recommendations to any of the e-mail addresses I have posted in the various subjects or threads. Since we have returned racing to Elizabeth City we have had this event the first weekend of June so the date will probably stay the same. This way everyone can pretty much count on E-City being the first weekend in June here out.

Let us know what you think would be good for classes, we are open to your recommendations.

                Thanks again, Bob K.

Ian, We will be looking for you!!!!!

                  Referee If Needed

I will come to Elizabeth City to referee if needed, but will not race any classes. Ian explained the economics; I explain the bad knees.
