    APBA J Scholarship Fund

I checked with Patty Malec who handles the funds at APBA and she advises that the check should be made out to APBA. And either on the memo line or put a note in with it stating that it is in memory of Bob Trolian and for the J Scholarship Fund. She will take care of getting the money to the proper account. The address for APBA is:

    17640 East Nine Mile Rd.
    Eastpointe, MI 48021-0377

This is truly a wonderful idea on the part of the Trolian family and something that Bob would be proud of.

      J Scholarship - Don't Miss Out!!

Good news for past “J” drivers! A scholarship has been set up through
the APBA Historical Society to encourage and give financial help to
an APBA member who raced in the J Category (Junior Classes) and
wishes to continue his/her education in a trade school, or two- or
four-year college. There is an age limit, however, of up to and
      including age twenty-five.
Each year, a minimum of one or a maximum of four scholarships of no
more than $1,000.00 each shall be given out to applicants based on
      the following criteria:
      1. Must be a current member of APBA in good standing
      2. Must have raced and scored points in a Junior Class
      3. Write an essay stating why you think you are eligible, and what
APBA did to enhance your life
      4. Give two references (not family)
      5. Show proof of college enrollment
Selection will be based on the above criteria. However, the selection
committee may take into consideration any of the following:
      1. Length of APBA membership
      2. Racing accomplishments
      3. Financial needs of the family/individual
      4. Community and extracurricular activities
      5. Personal goals
How do I apply, you ask? Applications are available at the APBA
office. All submissions must be mailed to the APBA Historical
Society, PO Box 377, Eastpointe, Michigan 48021-0377, with copies
going to the Junior Classes Chairpersons Ernie Dawe and Steve Hearn,
no later than January 1. Criteria will be verified at APBA
Headquarters and reviewed by the category chairpersons at the
national meeting. Based on Headquarters and chairmen's
recommendations, the final selection will be made by the APBA
Historical Society. A certificate will be awarded at the annual meeting.
The actual monetary award will be deposited directly into the college
account of the student for school-related expenses like tuition or
housing. (Sorry, no props.) A recipient may not receive more than one
      scholarship award.
This project has been funded by donations and the sale of cookbooks
made up by Janet Stoy, Nina Augustine, and Mary Williams, using
      recipes from boat racing families.
The APBA Historical Society is committed to matching funds up to
$1,000.00 each year for the first five years. This is an excellent
reason to donate to the Historical Society and/or purchase a cookbook
      or two.
Pass the word around to those former "J” drivers you know that APBA
is giving back to help with their education.
