Who's got a Current Rig/hull that will carry a CMH MERC/WIZARD avail?
Alan is gonn'a leave his DMH rig in Florida so If ya have something CMH/DSH that will carry a 4-cyl MERC that ya wann'a see run at Franklin/Waterford, Ont.....P/M me....asap....Mine has 14x15 hatchet/short Bayer tower.....Should be a good one!....You or me drive!

The biggest problem the Merc guys will face is not a lack of special parts or a lack of know how.
As soon as someone starts to run well with a Merc I'm afraid the Yamato Mafia will insist on a "parity rule".
Just look at the recent action in 350 mod hydro. At least someone will have the honor of getting a rule named after them.

and yamatos arent alowed as many mods there still barrly over stock no crank or flywheel mod or carbs or not near as much alowed to beef it up **** whats 8400 rpm

Hmmmm i think a c merc can compete if a guy can find some of harry brinkmans best props
for the Cmr class and has 1 of his motors complete as in his manual states

after all look at terry withams results in the 2007 MOD nationals he did get beat but not by much and he was running a 14 year old propeller food for thought i would say!!

i would love to try but alas i am doing good to get my 44's in order !!!

I thought that it is still very possible to be competitive with a C Merc. I was just wondering because I never see a C Merc at the races.

My motor doesn't have any "voodo magic" - just Harry Brinkman magic (Brinkman port job, crank bevel, "double loop, reverse flow" water cooling set-up, Quincy/Brinkman exhaust,) and it was more than just competitive the last time I raced it.

As far as props go..... I've had some good ones and some very good ones. My best 1:1 3 blade props went to Canada. I still have my best 1:1 4 blade. I guess I've never had a "special prop".

I'm not sure that Mercs would dominate on long courses but I think they would be in the hunt. The Yamatos have been pretty well sorted out and are running very well.

When was the "Turbo-four" last mass-manufactured? 1958?

1958 was the last year. From its introduction in 1956 until 1958 it was Merc's most popular motor, there are many of them still out there. They are not at all hard to find.

If that's the engine that I'm familiar with (and I think it is), it's a good one. It's a Brinkman built motor and very similar to mine.
