I need a little assistance in setting up a PRO 250 Runabout. We are putting together a Krier Runabout and a 250 Yamoto engine with a Yamoto Hatchet 12-16 lower unit. I need advice from the experts, Rich Krier, Tim Small, Mike Krier, Chris Hellsten. etc, etc. and anyone else as to the initial hight set up of the prop shaft. We plan on racing this rig at Constintine, Mich. in July. We know the set up for a 250 hydroplane with a Yamoto, and the 500 runabout with a Konny unit but the Yamoto, Krier runabout combination is a little different. Also will the 500 props with a 14-15 Konig work on a 250 Yamoto with the 12-16 gears. We will have the 500 Runabout there but will be looking for a driver. The schudual will have both running in the same set and is a little too much. Also the 500 is scary fast for an open boat. Would appreciate any advice on this and looking foward to competing with the best drivers in the US. Thanks Bob Rusnak...N-96

250ccR set-up help....
Bob-
I used a "fickett cheacker" on my 250ccH rig... wrote down the numbers and set up my little runabout to those SAME numbers. The water is coming off the same place....so you use the same height with the same propellers. I don't know if this is what you are supposed to do, but it seemed to worked for me.
On my hydro, I ran the prop shaft parrallell with the bottom. With the runabout I ran kicked out a small amount- with the Yamato kick-out plates, I had "0" being parallell. I ran a .5 kickout which was very small. The performance might be different with different boats....?
P.S. I used to use a 12:15 gear ratio in both the hydro AND runabout. I found that with my propellers, I went slower and didn't gain any useful acceleration with 12:16.
