The Bucket List
When this article first appeared in HR, I sent the link to some of the people
that I have met that are involved in the antique outboard clubs and some
of the R/Cers in this general area. Quite a few of these guys raced many
years ago and I received several emails from them showing a lot of interest
in participating.......still hooked after all these years ! The link was also
posted on one of the R/C sites by one of the guys I sent it to and
received close to 700 hits......there was a very good response from people
all over the US and Canada (along with one from the Netherlands) that were
definately interested ! Not sure who put this package together but was
definately a step in the right direction......sincerely hoping to see this
grow in future years.......my hat is off to the group that made this happen.

The whole deal is just wonderful. I too was very surprised at the average age.
It is especially cool that most of the rides are going to non APBA members if I understand the above posts. It will be interesting to see if it succeeds in bringing in new members. I think it will.
When can this be done in the 2 regions with the lowest number of members?

This can be the very shot in the arm that boat racing needs. Let's for sure expand this to other parts of the country.
The fact that this first school is already sold out well over a month in advanced shows to me that more schools would also be successful.
Great job to all.

Yes Mark very well done! I hope my "when" post didn't seem to demanding. I just think you guys have a great idea/program and would like to see it pursued in regions with low memberships
My hat is off to all involved with making this happen

Andrew, you should try and make it to an NBRA race a young man of nearly 80 makes almost every event , and runs in D,E and Se aka FE, hydro and RB.btw does anyone here know how old Mickey Remund was when he drove the Bud. lol.Originally posted by Andrew 4CE View PostThat's pretty cool acutally!
I'd say many people will finally realize their life long dream to drive a race boat.
For a first crack at this it's amazing. There likely wasn't much advertising. And isn't this event in conjunction with a vintage or testing meet?
I hope I'm able to climb in a boat at 74!
I'd guess most are signing up for th inboard ride?

I race against plenty of retired guys in their 60's and 70's. They are tough to beat! They can practice whenever they want and sometimes have several races under their belt before our ice is gone! haha. Guys like John Webster (until a couple years ago) and Ron France... their minds are sharper than mine is now and twice my age... haha. I dunno how they do it. But I hope I can at their age. Word has it my father is sick of my brother not running all his boats... he's taking over his ASH for this summer, haha. My Dad and Ron's combined age is likely higher than the rest of the field combined. They'll likely be on the podium too. haha.
Your dude running all those classes... and big classes... wow! born when men were men!! Not the soft footed, couch surfing, video game fingered slackers of my and the current generation. haha.
