  • Changing Rules

What is the process to apeal a rule imposed into the Modified category, such as a saftey rule.

(trying to help out John Runne and remove some of the overlapping rules and sensless rules as he asked me to do in another thread.)

Safety rules are a special category. I do not believe there is a process for the membership to remove or modify a safety rule made by the Safety Committee.

The Safety Director and the Safety Committee operate as a benevolent dictatorship.

The MORC/SORC can modify or remove a safety rule, but in my experience have been very reluctant to do so.

Someone would point that out. Oh well, guess I can't help out clarifying the rule book. Seems to me there should be some sort of appeals process to keep everyone honest and on the right track, and keep personal agendas from interfering with participants. (that is about as wordy as I can get)

Funny you should mention "personal agendas" regarding safety rules.

I spent one year as the Safety Director for AOF. AOF operates very similarly as APBA.

I was shocked and horrified at the number of phone calls, letters, and e-mails I got from people asking, suggesting, and in some cases begging for a rule to be made under the umbrella of "safety" that were clearly a personal agenda.

I think that today, more people grasp the big picture and I see more decisions at every level than ever before that are for the greater good of the sport rather than the benefit of an individual or interest group.

I agree. While there are certainly things that still go on for no good reason, it seems that most of our leadership has become more forward thinking in the last few years.
