I was going to look around at PEP Boys & Auto Zone ... found I already had a usable pair from an old KZ550 Kawasaki. A couple of nuts & some big fender washers and I'm done

        Laydown Mirrors

I have not used mirrors but thought about it. People in PRO told me not to bother. Just too much vibration so that you cannot make out an approaching boat clearly. And you want your eyes looking ahead more than anywhere else.

Wayne Baldwin has provided comments on using mirrors previously, so maybe he will chime in again.

          Mirror size

They are not 6 inch mirrors you need. They are 6 sq inch. a 2 " I think will fit the rule. Check out Jet ski mirrors, bike mirrors. Try "Denis Kirk "

2" round is not big enough for 6 square inches, but 3 is. I did the math on another thread, I think it is 2.7 round to be 6 square inches.

David, it doesn't matter in 850 whether we want mirrors or not, they are required now.

                Mirrors That Work

Josh Kimble has some that seem to work out on the Pro boat. Best that can be expected I guess. They are Jet Ski mirrors. He might be able to chime in here with the manufacturer. I saw them on Ebay with a buy it now price of around $50.00 plus shipping. Just can't remember the brand name right now. Joe Swikert (sp sorry Joe) put a set on his laydown already. Since they are now required I guess we have no choice.

I have tried a lot of different mirrors (look at the various holes in my boat) and the best so far hands down have been from Tim Seebold for Tunnel Boats. They don't vibrate and work great. www.seeboldracing.com

Joe, This rule applies for 350 runabout for the 2009 season. I thought you knew. I will bring the cigars to Winona.

It's a pro rule under Category safety rules. It is Safety Rule 3 item 18 K on page 21 of the 2009 Rule Book. It says the mirrors must be 8 square inches.

                            Jack:

The rule you quoted applies to Pro capsule boats only.

Yes that is correct but possibly something may have been added at this year's national meeting. I did not intend to say all pros had to comply. That's why I referanced the paragraph number. That paragraph is titled Reinforced Cockpits-Pro classes.
