I'm pretty sure the large round outer cable anchor indicates pleasure use over racing ... might be a shift lever to use with foot throttles

          whats it for??

I think Sam is on the right track. Looks like a shift lever for an "in/out" gearbox or such used on an inboard possibly? Doesn't look like it would have enough travel, if it is not much larger than it looks, to be a forward/neutral/reverse lever.

I have never seen anything like that used as a PRO pipe puller. Usually something for that type use is much more "hand" friendly, and would mount more easily by the throttle.

            Mike,

There is an ad., with picture, for this product in the December 1983 issue of Propeller.

It is an "OPC Racing Shifter." It was sold by K & S, 3948 E. Devonshire, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Phone: 602-956-7892. It sold for $23.00. (Prepaid only, no C.O.D.)

                Jet boats

Friend of mine had a 18' jet boat w/ blown 426 hemi. He had a lever that looked like that for the swing gate to "shift" forward reverse.

Don't know what the part is, but look at that hand! Have you ever thought of becoming a hand model, Mike? You're better than George Costanza!

That can't be Mikes hand there's no epoxy on it. He's got a new 20 boat on the jig...
