    A major change in technical rules usually triggers a freezing of any existing UIM speed record.

    An increase in minimum weights is normally introduced to reduce top racing speed. For example Bob's previous world OSY.400 record - with no minimum weight - was 72.03 mph, but his recent attempt achieved only 70.12 mph.

      Mike,

      Do not be suprised to see that record nudged by another .25 MPH each year for the next 4 years. Bob is a master of setting Kilo records and has an unmatched ability to break the current recors by "just enough". Nobody has a penchant for setting Kilo records like Bob.

      I am sure that the additional weight will slow competition speeds. Hopefully, it does not result in clumsy boats that are difficult to drive.
