Hey Tom, If the class became a regular USTS run class I would be building a engine for it this winter. If it is only going to be run at the FL USTS races and the Nationals. I will just step up and run 175ccH with my 125cc engine. I would do this rather than build a new engine. Because I can not justify building one only to run it one time a year at the Nationals.

It is not up to me to answer about the USTS.
I wish it would happen this year.

            175 Class

I have driven a 2 cylinder 175cc boat previously. I must say it was one of the smoothest rides that I have ever had. It was plenty quick without too much torque. IF you believe that you are too large for 125, but do not want the speed of a 250 this would be a good option. I am guessing that the competitive speeds are in the low 80's in a 5 mile race on a typical USTS race course.

My guess is that there may be an opportunity to hold another UIM World Championship in the US within the next couple of years (as opposed to 125 and 250 which will be a long time away).

Personally, I think that there are too many classes as is. Adding 175 to the title series would be unnecessary. As well as trying to force the class on the U.S. pro division.

                  Ryan:

You are talking about two completely different things here. What is good or bad for the USTS has nothing to do with what is good or bad for the Pro division. While they may benefit from each other, they also differ in many ways.

                    Ryan,

The genesis of the renewed 175cc class occured in the US.

I agree that we may have too many classes. But, I can envision a modern PRO division that includes 125, 175 and then perhaps another 3 engine displacements above that (for both hydro and runabout). But, that is another discussion for another time.

                      Inclination

                      Tom,

I would be inclined to put an outfit together if 175 Hydro would be a USTS class and always run beach / jetty starts. Beach / Jetty starts are more Fan Friendly and exciting. Just look at the the success of this last Worlds.

Beach starts would help us be more competitive at the World events.

If you truely want to be competitive, remember that UIM requires a minimum boat weight and a minimum total weight (boat and driver).

The USTS does not own a scale and I do not see one in our near future!!

                            Weights

                            David,

O125H and O175H do not have weights. See 2008 UIM Circuit Rules, Page 195, Rule 522.04, Minimum Dimensions.

Dean is correct. 250's and 350's have weights, but not the 125's and 175's.
