If you have not been there, you need to come out at least once. Here is a view form the pits. The first three oictiures are a panormaic view if put together and the last picture is Mt. Rainier. All views from the pits. Flat Fast Water.
Great family and the records were well earned and well deserved. Records are made to be broken and when they are broken by a nice family, it is even more special.
With their 8 year old son racing next year Jim announced his retirement from racing (maybe temporary???) at Lawrence to pit for his family next year.
Jim, Amy, Mike, and #1 pit crew member Ben, we enjoyed pitting next to you this past weekend. Hope you will come back in the near future and encourage others to do the same.
God bless.

Sounds like Amy was really playing it smart. She set the records but still has more speed in reserve so if she gets better conditions, has an unobstructed start and goes a shorther distance closer to the bouys, she has plenty to break her own records. A new record does not have to be the ultimate, sometimes it's just a step beyond what anyone else has ever done.
Congrats to Jim Sweeny. He has given up focusing on his own racing career so that he can concentrate on family and their ability to accomplish greatness. He got his family invovled into the sport instead of taking time off to raise kids. Kudos Jim, and thank you for being such a great role model.
Congrats to Amy for breaking a record, with a full field never the less ! Not an easy taks and speaks freely of her ability to kick arse. To bad she did not talk Jerry Davids into letting her take the DMR out there ! Look out !!
Michael, great job, you are going to accomplish a lot in your career, keep involved.
I couldn't agree more with all these posts. This is the first time I have met the Sweeneys and they were awesome. I was very impressed when Mike came over to our pits, shook Ashely' hand and gave congratulations on her record. This was just after he set his own blistering AXSH record. That's what sportsmanship is all about! Really enjoyed meeting and talking to the whole family. Hopefully they made it out of inspection before midnight and had a safe trip home! Great to end the season on a positive note!

Well, Michael and I made it home late last night. We had a great time in Washington. It was nice to see our West Coast friends as well as the new friends we made while we were there.
Jim will be home Wednesday morning (I think he got the short end of the stick, he must really love us). He wanted me to thank the Seattle Outboard Club and especially Jan Shaw and Steve Graves for all their hard work and putting on a first class event!
The Push Boat Nationals on Saturday was so much fun. We need to incorporate this into our 09 Grass Lake Nationals.
Non of this would have been possible without the help from our friends back home, namely Ed Harrington for the use of his trailer and Mark Tate (for too many things to mention) Thank you all for the encouragment and enthusiazm to make this big trip! Thank you for the kind words you have been writing, it means a lot to us, that's why we love boat racing so much. We are all part of one big family.
For all of you who have never experienced Lake Lawrence (Yelm Wa.) it is a trip you need to take!!
Thanks again to everyone. We can't wait to see you "Left Coasters" again soon!
Jim, Amy & Michael
p.s I will post some pictures when Jim gets home with the camera.
