      More on Kingston

First a history lesson, the Town of Kingston was founded in 1694. (I believe Bill Giles was there to sign the incorporation papers!).

The Brick Building in Christines's photo's was built in 1883, first as a Seminary and later used as the local High School.

The Church in the photo's is adjacent to the pits and the parking lot is used to stage the trailers prior to moving them into the pits. Hence, the reason we do not start engines until noontime.

As you view the picture of the Pond, by 4PM the Sun is directly over the trees at the far end making visability a little tough. Because of the Church and the Sun issues, this dictates that we run a 3 1/2 to 4 hour program and limit the classes to ten.

If you look close at the pond, you may notice a tree limb that extends out over the water halfway up the right side of the pond. We had a DSH Driver have that branch skim his helmet.

Michael R. - We had a meeting Monday evening the 22nd specifically to see where we could expand the pits. Bottom line, you bring the boats,we will pit them!

To the TRORA Crew, would love to have you. If you can bring a class that was not listed on the schedule board, bring 5 or more and a class with less numbers will be dropped to one heat, four laps. The Fishers Landing crrew runs Crystal Lake the week before, would make for a great Fall vacation in the Northeast. Heck, Taunton, Massachusetts is the week before Crystal Lake and Franklin. PA is the week after Kingston, blow off work and pull a Brewster and race all September. When you are old and retired you will be glad you did.

Thanks for all of the positive comments.

Peter, It's too bad that Paul didn't get a photo of your helmet in the trees or of the Tohatsu hood doing the high jump on turn 1 in DSH, 1st lap. Alex P. and I used to like to water ski into the tree branches on the Kennebec and Cobbosee Stream. We were going a little slower though. Paul's new photos are up on www.southshoreoutboard.com for you "from-awayers"

I guess this is why they are called hydroPLANES!

I thought I heard in my helmet at this very moment...."Please fasten your seat belts we are about to land at any moment"
