  • Yes, looking for a "Winter" project already

Before we know it winter will be here in Montana . This will be my first winter without racing for 7 whole months. It is going to be hard. I want to build another boat just to stay busy. Last spring I build a Sorensen kit in 2 and a half months. Now I am looking for plans for a 20SSH/CSH, maybe even a D stock. Looking for suggestions. Our Sorensen works so good I may build another but would like any other recommendations you may have. I would even consider a kit but they don't take as long to build. Then I would have to build two!

Also I have a big shop with room for two more boat projects if anyone needs a boat built. I am semi retired so I have lots of time and building is almost as much fun as racing. ALMOST

      Contact Marc Johnson at Marc.Johnson@MJRComposites.com

He has great plans for every class (Stock, Mod & Pro) and his boats are fast and great to drive. You will not be disappointed with the results.

          What Brian said..

Get yourself some MJR plans and build yourself something FAST. These plans are very detailed and well done, and the success of the design speaks for itself.

Since you have lots of time, and since you are now an experienced outboard racer, it's time to take off the training wheels and build yourself a C runabout. Not sure if Runne sells plans or kits, but his CSR's run pretty **** good.

That oughta get you through a long Montana winter, and we can see you and your trailer full of new boats at Lawrence next spring.

Tony, I have built two hydros now but never a runabout. They don't race them in the club over here. All classes are hydros. MJR sounds like I need to check them out. Thanks. I wish I could afford to come to Lawrence this fall. I was going to come to your Moses Lake race in September but the AOF nationals are there the next weekend so it was one or the other.

Talked to MJR and will be ordering plans right after the AOF Nationals. I guess I will also be possibly building a runabout for a name I am sworn to secrecy who now lives in Texas. So I have one more spot to build another boat in my shop this winter. These are for pick up only. Not cost effective to pay for shipping any more.

Worst case I may put our new boat on the back burner if someone else wants a boat built. Runabout should be interesting. In many ways I understand they are easier than a hydro.

Does anyone know of a place close to the west side of Montana for getting Okoume plywood and Stika Spruce to avoid nasty shipping charges or at least keep them reasonable?

                Supplies

I would suggest Darrel Sorenson for your Sitka and Okumme. He sells both and is in Ca, perhaps the closest to you.

Another way is to simply do an internet search, that is how I found a supplier closer to home than Harbor, as shipping costs have went way up for all that stuff. ALso not to happy with the shipping companies Harbor uses, last three loads I got from them had lots of damage. I have not ordered from them in a few years.
