I change mine after every race day and after every test day. Some may change it more frequently and some less frequently.

Unless you got a leaker, you don't need to change it that often. I change mine; before the season, before & after Top O'.

        Lube Change

I change my gear oil in my 102's after every race. I've been using STALUBE Hypoid 90 High Performance oil for fourteen years now, with zero problems in my Pro and "stock" motors (just jinxed myself, huh? LOL). I let the foot drain a day on the cart in the shop until it is fully drained and then save the spent oil for chain saw bar oil. I write "No Oil" on a strip of bright blue painter's masking tape and paste it on the side of the foot until I fill the gear oil cavity again (some guys use a carpenter's crayon or chalk.) I learned about changing and checking the oil from Bob Wartinger and his racing friends (including Ric Montoya); they were right about looking at the oil constantly - I blew a seal once in a 102 foot.

Does your 302 have any drain/fill holes? Mine doesn't, so I use a good quality synthetic and change it once a year. But I only run 2 classes, if I ran more I would inspect it mid season. Now if we are talking Quicksilver units...that's another regimen.
