  • Beloit WI Event August 23-24-2008 - Status

Because of the spring/summer rains and resulting flooding this event has been on the bubble at best. One racing event on the Rock River was cancelled already that was to occur July 12-13 at the Beloit Riverfest.

Things have turned around and per Brock "The Rock" Schwebke and Davey Hemp the waters are at bay and the pits at Wooten Park were dry as of 2 weeks ago.

Currently the City has a "No Wake" ordinance in effect, but the township has lifted this safe gaurd this past Monday. The City is expected to lift their ordanance over the weekend as the weather proves to be positive to improve the "Dry-Out"!

With the high gas prices we invite all our local friends and those North-South-East and West to attend. This has been a very experimental year as Region 6 has expanded its local program and Region 7 continues its local events as well.

I think between our 2 Regions we have set a bench mark by creating fairly succesful programs for our local participants and our new racing members where they don't have to travel great distances/time to get boat time and experience. This is imperative to foster growth.

More to come on this event as things are starting to look positive.

Went by today as work had me in that area.

I wish I would have been down to test instead as it was the most perfect I have ever seen the place. The water is a bit higher than we are used to as "normal", but we can still fully use the docks. I think it's a go at this point in time, but I'm no one to make that call.
