78 Year Old Marshall Eldredge won his first National Championship in 175cc hydro. The young Rucker grand daughter won K PRO (she airs that boat out just like mom used to!!) and Brandon Thirlby made to fantastic moves between the last turn and the finish line to nudge Sean McKean in back to back heats (this was great driving by both guys and Ray Rodda had the crowd standing on its feet).
B.J. Tetro had 175 hydro in the bag with wins in the first two heats. I think the fuel cap o-ring was broken at launch of the third heat to give Marshall the win 869 to 800. Dominic Defibo won all three heats of 125 runabout. Brian Payn broke down before the start of heat one.
Mike Thirlby dominated 500 runabout after rebuilding the engine Saturday night.
Buddy Tennell suprised the 250 runabout field with an outstanding victory in Bruce Nicholson's 77-T. These guys did their homework and it paid off. Quite a suprise not to see Tim Small out front, as this has been his class all year.
Jeff Kugler simply smoked them in 350cc hydro. Team Kugler all is rewarded for a lot of homework.
Tough battles and a ton of attrition in 700cc hydro. David Hooten takes three heat wins in dominant fashion.
I did hear the final result for the antiques. Great battles here as well and I believe in C Service Hydro that there were 3 drivers tied on points. IN CRR the front runners engine puked with less than a lap to go.
Big field today for 1100 hydro, 250cc hydro, 125 cc hydro, 350cc runabout and the crowd favorite, 1100cc runabout.
Thank you for the Saturday race results recap. It wil be interesting to see the 250ccH results from today's race with the new Euro-design boats in the mix...
Congratulations to all the Champions at this years Pro Nationals. I had a great time as always and I would really like to thank The town of Depue and all the people who who put so much effort into making that event happen. It is truly a first class operation and one of the best races of the year.
Also if anyone has pictures from the nationals and could get in contact with me I would really like to see some of the action shots from the weekend. Thanks again and we will see you next year.
