The piece in the new Propeller about Super Thunderbolt engines is a bit confusing.
The article seems to encourage use of STs but doesn't want anyone to do it too well. Not sure it can work both ways!
The obvious concern is that a ST can be legally built to compete with the Merc 44XS and Tohatsu D.
Moreover, the article's central point that the ST be used as a bridge to "current" equipment, may not be shared by some who view it instead as a way to be competitively respectable and budget-friendly in bolstering two classes stuggling for survival--DSR/DSH.
At any rate, the APBA leadership needs to be cautious about legislating ST performance lest it defeat what is clearly an important initiative for the D classes.
