  • Race 4 Kaos

The first RACE 4 KAOS to celebrate the life of Kevin Ladd, was held at Constantine, MI this past weekend. The event centered on the 20SSH class, one of Kevin’s favorite to race. The winner is determined by a combination of both Sat. and Sun. heats. The RACE 4 KAOS will be held every year at Constantine, MI for ten years with the winner receiving his/her choice of a Bulova watch, which will be engraved with name and year. Additionally, the winner will have their name engraved on the plaque which will be retired to Kelly Ladd at the end of the ten years.

This year’s race was won by Tim Sidor, but not without quite a fight. Weather, gun jumping, hit buoys, and banging boats showed how much everyone wanted the win. I believe Kevin would have appreciated the intensity and effort put forth on the course.

As you would suspect following the race were a lot of laughs, tears and hugs.

Special thanks to the VanValkenburg and Son Jewelers, and Bulova watches for making the financing of the watch possible.

      I forgot a Thank You

I almost forgot to Thank Spud Hemp.

Spud welded up three brand new gas tanks, two raffle for Kori Ladd fund and one to raffle for the 20SSH drivers! A truly class act that was very appreciated!

Thank you very much Spud. I personally know that Kevin thought you were almost as smart as he was Seriously, Kevin really respected your opinion on a lot of different topics.

      Thank you very much!

        Great Job Tim-ster

Sorry we could not be there, saving gas monies, refreshing horse power, re -engineering 30 pounds in a BSH for Rach and keeping the basement dry!!!!!

We definitely missed going to this event.

        Sid,
A fitting acknowledgement to Kevin to have you as the inaugural and a MI recipient.
Looking at the challengers there was a National Championship flare to this event.

        Congratulations my friend.

            Great showing...

It was a great showing of 20SSH racers that turned out to support the inaugural Race4Kaos event. We didn't expect as many racers at this year's Constantine - Great Lakes Challenge for various reasons, but as a competitor in 20SSH and race organizer I have to say it made me very proud to be part of the 15 who took the green flag.

As Steve mentioned it was a great field of racers and I believe a few even raced just to show support for the family. Throughout the weekend there were many racers and family members donning the TeamKaos traditional Orange and Blue. The "Race 4 Kaos" shirts sold out very quickly and we've had many requests to make another run.

Although many parts of this weekend were very tough it was a great show of support and the healing process for the family. Thanks to all who helped out in so many different ways.
