The ODA has decided for the Rockaway Beach, MO race May 31st and June 1st that we will pay all $1,500 prize money from the sponsor as tow money to help offset some of the high fuel prices. The tow money will be paid in cash on Sunday after roll call at the drivers meeting. It will be based on mileage traveled. You must race both days to get the full amount you are owed. If you only race one day then you will get half. I hope this will help get some more drivers in the pits and boats on the water!!!!!!

I think this is a good move on St. Louis ODA part. This way you know you will have something to take home. And being paid at the race site in cash reminds me back when I started racing. They would pay the prize money after the race was over and sometimes you would have enough money for gas to get home and a hamburger!

Tow money
Good decision Keith. Larry Mac and I talked about this issuue on our trip to Georgia. Us old timers, living on fixed incomes, can't afford the high gas prices that it takes to enjoy our hobby. Way back in the Fifities, gas was 25 to 30 cents a gallon, motel room was 20 bucks a nite and a good meal was $1.50. My how things have changed!!! Hope the rest of the clubs will consider the TOW issue!B BURT

Good Race!
You folks put on a great race! The tow money really helped as well. Though there was a little weather issue, still had a great time. Thanks ODA and everyone else that helped put on this race.Richard Russo

Amen Mr. Russo!
It was a good season opener! Thanks to all who helped put this race together and make the arrangements for the tow-money and friendly start of a new season.
It was so good to see the familiar faces and some new ones too! We are growing, folks! It will be tough with high fuel prices, but I hope to see you all at as many races as possible this season.
Thanks to everyone who loaned me stuff, helped Jerrie and I lift boats, and in general were just there as your very supportive selves! We didn't have a pit crew this time around and it was tough.
I have an order in for a large nylon gunny sack to catch the parts off my boat so i don't have to do so much dredging!
And, Rich... I'm so sorry about the mains in that yamato...it was one to contend with until that happened. (One of the fastest C-stock rigs I've ever seen!)
Hope to see as many of you as possible in Stillwater June 14/15 for Livin' Loud on Boomer... a two-day race on Stillwater's in-town Boomer Lake.
