      Update

Tom Low and myself met with the Fort Custer Recreation Area staff yesterday evening and did a final walk through of the park grounds and addressed all open issues with their staff. A few items that I want to make everyone aware of so that there are no surprises:

      1) There is no alcohol allowed in the park. However, we do have a permit for the for the Hill Top Picnic shelter area and will also have a 20 x 30' tent set up next to it for additional shelter/seating. The permit allows for can beer and or wine (no glass bottles please).

      2) The gates to the lake/beach area close at 10pm each night.

For Friday, that means that if you arrive after 10pm please wait by the gate and park staff will be come by every 1/2 hour until 2am to open the gate for the trailers to be parked.

For Saturday, after the picnic dinner/awards in the pits, there are a couple bars/resturants (The Barking Frog and Players Grill) in Augusta that are very excited to have us and are supporting the race in differents ways so I'm sure we'll have a place to hang out and talk about the days events.

      3) Fueling will have to be done out of the water this year and you will have to place absorbant mats under you tank when filling with gasoline. MHRA will provide the mats at registration and drivers meeting.

      4) There is no testing on Friday.

Additionally, for the marathoners Tom and I feel that we can make a course similar in shape to Grass Lake, but a little shorter. The plan is to have 1 right hand turn in the course.

We are really excited about this site and hope that we have a good turnout of both spectators and racers with the plan to make this an annual event.

We also ask that anyone coming into town support the busineses on the attached "sponsor poster". All the businesses listed stepped up to support the race in many different ways, so we ask that you if need something while in Augusta/Galesburg that you stop in and patronize them and even thank them for their help.

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

      Mark

          Ft. Custer

Thanks Mark for the information. I promise I'll be a good guest at the park. My family is looking forward to the camping.
Bob, I'll be at campsite #8. (next to the bathrooms)
          Can't wait to get there!

Add: We'll try to visit as many race supporters on the flyer that we can. EXCEPT, the EMS service!

                      Speed trap warning

Just wanted to give all are racers attending this race a warning. Even thou the communitee of Augusta is thrilled to have us coming and putting on a show for two days they do have strict speed limit postings and enforcment in this small town. I would hate to see your weekend spoiled with the additional expence of a speeding ticket so PLEASE watch the posted speed limits.

                      Regards - Talltom
