The restoration of this facility would be great. With the exception of the salt water, it is probably the most exciting marine race courses ever built. I ran my first race here in 1968 and with the exception of Depue on a good year have never seen more spectators. And that was an average race for the Stadium. I can recall sitting next to Pete Miller (Don Mackrell's friend that takes the video while Don shoots the stills) when the infamous triple flip happened that Ron Hill speaks of on occasion. Pete got the photo and it ran in the Miami Herald the next morning.
I can also remember the concerts. One in particular was "THE BAND", "LEON RUSSELL", "THE EAGLES" and "LEONARD SKYNYRD" all on the same ticket for 6 bucks.
If this restoration is ever brought to fruition, it's worth the trip. I would think that with decent marketing and Miami's marine enthusiasts, it has the potential of being one of those events that is a can't miss.
