    Joe Jovon Schulz

Just got word that Joe passed away last night. Joe from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was a long time boat racer, having started in the 50`s with his brother Homer and has been at it ever since. At one time or another he was a member of APBA. NOA, AOF,NBRA. He served as the first President of NBRA. He was also very active in Hawkeye & ODA racing clubs. In his time Joe ran Stock, Mod, Pro. After he retired from driving he stayed active in the sport with his sons Tim & Tom,even helping his grandson get started. I am proud to say he was my friend. Boat races won`t be the same with him gone. My deepest condolences to all his family. God Speed Joe.

Saw him in late September at our Pleasant Prairie race.

Joe was at the AOMC meet in Tomahawk WI in past recent years and we always
had a good time BSing about the old days. My prayers and thoughts to Joe's family.

        So Sorry

        TO Joe's family:

So sorry to hear of his passing. Joe and I became friends when Hawkeye and the Illinois Powerboat Association were coming together with the IOA group for some great races in the Modified Division.

I met Joe's wife for the first time a couple of weeks ago, when Joe looked up and said here comes trouble to his wife. Indeed trouble is right, but what a great loss.

To his wife and Son Tim who ran with us in USTS a couple of times, may the Lord send his Spirit that you might know that all is well, all is well. Joe is in the continum of time and he is just as he was when he left the earth, a husband and father.

May God Bless you and your family.

        Ray

            Sorry to hear about Joe

Tim and Tom, I am so sorry to hear about Joe's passing. I didn't know Joe as well as the two of you, but I know where the knowledge came from. I sure am glad I didn't have to race against Joe Shultz, because y'all two were more than I could handle many times. He's going to be missed by all.

                      A Heavy Heart

Joe will be missed. He was the kind of guy that everyone liked and also repected. With the recent venture into Pro with his sons I know they were having fun. I have had the pleasure of spending time with the family at both NBRA races, AOF races and APBA races. Just last year we kind of teamed up to help each other out at the Pro races and also at the NBRA races. A great friend has crossed over.

Tim, Tom and all of the family, our prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear of Joe Shultz passing. Ray Hardy and I had good old times at those Hawkeye Races. I was lucky to pit next to Joe in DePue a couple of years ago. A very fine individual, he will be miss by all who knew him.
