I tried arranging reduced room rates. I have a contract coming with pricing and a block of 10 rooms reserved. However, one hotel chain that I contacted said that because of the Soap Box Derby event, if we don't use all of the alloted rooms, the signer of the agreement would be have to pay for the difference. The sales agent said they would be losing on not renting those rooms to the potential soap box derby guests. The Fairfield Inn is the hotel chain offering a $99.00 room rate. But I have to finalize the agreement and make sure I'm not stuck with any expenses. Most of the hotels are at the Arlington Rd., exit 120 on I 77. Sponsorship is in the works for next year. There are plenty of restaurants and bars located at the interchange. Figuring out the lodging needs is one more issue I have to deal with. This is a frustrating undertaking because I really have no way of knowing how many rooms I am going to need. And the gas crunch/economy situation could contribute to a poor turn-out.

It means that everything is being worked on and will be announced when finalized. Rick has been working his tail off on this site and has done a tremendous job. With 2 and a half months to go, I am sure he will be busy putting the finishing touches on everything. Once the ink is all dry, I am sure he will let everyone know what is what.

I'm not sure there will be tow/show money for the event this year. Originally, there was a strong hope that there would be quite a bit but now it is more uncertain that this will happen. The community is still working towards getting tow/show money but if this happens it will be announced at a later date. Regardless, this race is on a fantastic lake right in the middle of a town festival. Should be a good time.

Room and Rate Type:

Standard Room 2 Doubles……..$99.99 + tax
Standard rooms consist with 2 Double beds, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, coffee maker, 25-inch television, 60 cable stations, and a multitude of complimentary HBO channels.

We will hold a maximum of ten rooms at a time. We will allot additional rooms once the original ten have been reserved. A cut off date three weeks prior to your event will be established. Any rooms not reserved by this date will be released for sale. The group rate is not available after the cut-ff date.
Fairfield Inn & Suites Akron-South is holding 10 rooms: Arriving: July 17 2008 Departing: July 22, 2008. The cut off day is June 26, 2008. Your individual group members will have the opportunity to reserve their rooms at your group rate up until the cut off date. Any rooms not reserved by the cut of date will be released for sale and the group rate is no longer available. Check-in: 3:00PM / Check-out 12:00PM

· Entire hotel is 100% smoke free. There is a $250.00 recovery charge for smoking in room.
· Please contact the hotel directly to make your reservation. Any of the front desk staff will be able to assist you.
· Credit card holder must be present at check-in. If credit card holder will not be present we must have a credit card authorization form completed prior to check. Please advise us if you need this form when making your reservation.
· There is a $50 refundable deposit due for all cash payment.
· Consumption of alcohol is restricted to the guest rooms. Open containers of alcohol are not permitted in any of the public areas, including the parking lot, hallways and stairwells.
· Children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times.
· Quiet time is to be observed between the hours of 10pm and 8am.
· Guests must be 21 years of age to check in.
· The person signing and/or paying for the room is responsible for the condition of the room and the behavior of the people in the room.
· Room doors must be kept shut at all times.
· Safety deposit boxes are provided at the front desk for items of value. The hotel is not responsible for items that not kept in a safety deposit box.
· Complaints from other guests or violations of these rules will result in one verbal warning. Any additional will result in expulsion from the property with no refund.
· Any money that is refunded to guests because of complaints will be charged to the person that is registered to the room that violated the policies that disturbed the guest
