      boat plans

Boat plans are great. Having buitl my first boat from scratch I would recommend a kit. There is some terminology that is a little different and there are some great kits out there from very accomplished boat builders. Shannon Bowman, Sam Hemp and Darrell Sorenson to name a couple

As far as plans Darrell Sorensen and Marc Johnson have some great options...

there is a great deal of help out there

A kit sounds great but... Id really like to do it all.... I have a CNC router (large) and like to do it from scratch.....

BTW - Thanks for the help so far !

What ever you do Good luck and Welcome to the racing family!
with that said. When you are deciding how heavy to make the boat. You might want to take into consideration ASX classes too. the weights are diff. from A and Your son could run both, doubling his boat time for only the cost of entry fees. But I would not expect to be really competitive with the OMC in ASX. Yet the driving time makes it worth running anyway just for the experience. especially his first year.
