I would think your best bet would be SOA. Contacts would be Scott Reed & Richie Palmer (Hydroracer members reed28n & Richie23n). They are on HR most of the time but you can also look them up via the membership list and send them an email or private message.

Either of them would have all the info you might need on the club as well as area races.

    Good luck.

Got some good info. thanks to all

Now I just have to wait for it to get a bit warmer round here. Any of you ever heard of the Dillon Mini Vee? I'm working on one now. Seems like a cool little boat.

It is a cool little boat, but it runs in the OPC category. I don't think there will be any OPC races near you

I plan on building this one to screw around on in the lake. Then get to some races, learn more and build a racer, who knows. I think me and the family could have some fun with this sport! I look forward to meeting some boaters and pickin there brains!

If your looking for a family environment, Stock Outboard is the place! There are families that have been racing for 4 or 5 generations! As for picking their brains, good luck! Just Kidding! There are MANY very intelligent and talented racers in stock outboard. Like they said before, contact Scott or Rich. Welcome to the sport!

An excellent boat for that use and it is better to practice building another boat before an attempt at your racer.

To get the full effect of the sport, you will need to hang around with the racers after the races, not just during. The fun around the campfire is an important part of boat racing

                            After the races

Sittin around the camp fire, bsin', cold beer and the kids sleeping. Dose it get any better than that? I can't wait for it to warm up round here!
