Motor

Blueskyracer - Since you can't buy a Yamato CSH motor new (they come rebuilt from Japan after one racing season over there), you should be able to buy a reallly good Y102 or Y302 for around 1,500 to 1,800 dollars with the foot already profiled and the modified prop shaft. Be sure to learn about the difference in tower heights so that you can run either model motor with stick shims on your new boat's transom (the 302 tower is shorter). I usually run level or kicked under just a little from the true bottom of the tunnel.

So, if the motor is kicked under or out a little where do they take the one inch mesurement from?

The height measurement is the distance between the true bottom of the boat to the center of the prop shaft. If the trailing edge of the boat bottom is a flat, unbroken surface measuring is easy. Hold a straightedge on the bottom and get your tape measure. It pays to measure carefully because classes with height restrictions are checked in inspection after every heat.

The quality of boat racing done in the APBA is very reasonable (cheap) we are very spoiled.

Yes it is cheap and we are spoiled. I in was at the snowmobile shop the other day and there where sleds for $15,000. Just sign your name on the dotted line and it's your's for $$$$ per month. But it will not be worth anything in 3 years.

You guys are right. Boat racing is not bad considering I was the horse hauler for years and saw all the money going out for Vet bills, feed and tack.

Now we go to Washington to help run two horse shows which is a lot cheaper. In fact the wife gets paid now. That is a first. We have two horses but they are just yard art now.

Two years ago we bought two ATV's and that was $11,000 and last year we bought another toy we have wanted for years, a real nice 79 Corvette so we also cruise with a car club and go to shows.

After last year when I had a massive heart attach which, my wife saved me by doing CPR for 20 minutes at age 54, our outlook on life has changed. It pays to sleep with an EMT and she has the "T" shirt to prove it. Just saw the doctor and my heart has recovered 100%

Our new Motto is you can't take it with you. So lets have fun! Now we just have to figure out how to fit it all into the short Spring and Summer.
