    Top O Mich Marathon

It is always amazing to me that our organization has become such a bureaucratic nightmare. No matter what is proposed to make the spot fun and draw back some membership and encourage new membership and participation, there is always a "rule" to preclude it from happening.Who loses? We all do.

I use the term "Classic" loosely as we up north of the boarder have never stopped racing the old B Merc.
They are on at all our events at no extra fees, we run joint sanctioned with APBA and use the same insurance.
Crystal Lake, NY also runs them and i have never been informed of extra fees for them.

Always something, noise i can understand...

        Classic

If one runs stock "Classics" within a stock/mod race then its all one event and one insurance, and, most importantly, the same set of safety specs. But "Stock Classic" is run as a 'Special Event', like 'VINTAGE Inboard',
a separate event, and run with different safety rules, and is a different insurance premium.

Its all semantics, just too bad we do not get leadership or direction from the National bodys.

          Brian,
thanks for the clarifications on terminology. I hope that TOMORC and APBA are reading this and agree with what has been done at other races. We still have a bunch of guys that want to race. Now, if the club leadership will take a pro-active stance on the noise issue we may be able to do this? They need to ASK THE QUESTION ! Go to the township council and ask for permission or go thru the paperwork to get a noise waiver for 20 minutes on 2 seperate days ! If it is approved then ask the township council to publish their decision in the local rag so the public knows we have permission. If the club leadership doesn't even try then we know where the real obstructions are. Mike Marshall, Raceboat 61-S

            Mike,
We were so looking forward to running our old "B"s again. Bull Crap politics have'nt changed since I quit racing in 1969.

Mike, So it seems this is not a done deal either way yet. I'll remain optimistic. I know the race committee is looking out for the best interests of the members and fellow racers.
Thank you for keeping us posted.
