    Prayers

I tried to post something yesterday and could not come up with anything worth putting down. I don't know the Augustines as well as some, however the few times I see them they always are upbeat, friendly, and always willing to pitch in where it matters most. They simply are a joy, and hoot to be around. I think Pop's would be proud of this legacy. It certainly shows he cared deeply for family as he has made sure his family are true competitors in every sense of the word. On and off the beach.

You have our prayers in this time of sadness.

      Thanks....

....to everyone for posting such great memories of Pop. Over the last couple of days so many memories have been going through my head, and so many of them are related to racing in one way or the other. It doesn't surprise me that he touched so many people in boat racing, he was like that in every aspect of his life.

He was the coolest granddad you could ever have. I'm so glad all of you got a chance to know that, too.

        Pop

To the Augustine family you have my condolences. I know you will miss him very much at home and at the races. My father has been gone since 1988 and never got to see me race. He quit when I was 12. I only know that without his mentoring I missed a lot. You will always remember Pop.

Condolences to all the Augustine family

From the time I met you all and your father/grandfather, I always considered the Augustines as my extended family during my Army years in D.C. I cherish those memories and want you all to know I will always remember "Pop"! I last saw him at DuPue several years ago - I still remember our conversation - he said he only gets to guard the toolbox nowadays while the rest of you run the boats! He also said that alky racing isn't the same since they can't use the "hot stuff" for fuel.
God bless you all. Bernie Bergen

              Tappahannock Photo

              Pat Augustine:

Can I talk you into scanning and posting the racing photo of Pop that was in the lower left corner of the display? Dave, Sr. said it was from Tappahannock. I stared at that photo for the longest time...

                    Rest in Peace Pop

I am still in shock as I write this, had to wake up Jack and tell him about Pop passing away...we just found out as something made me get on Hydroracer tonight - guess this was why...we will miss Pop so much, we sincerely loved his wit, charm and character.

Pop was my angel years ago when I was trying to become a referee (and a female referee over 20+ years ago was almost unheard of) and he made me feel so good. He said "hey, if you don't get passed in your region to be a referee you can come to region 4 and referee with us any time you want." Pop was region chairman there for many years. I thanked him and kept working on my training with his encouragement. We used to have APBA Reference Books that came out every year with names of approved referees for all regions. In the next book - there is was, my name listed as an approved referee in his region. I will never forget it Pops, thanks a million!!

Our sincere condolences to his wife who he always spoke about fondly at the races; also to his great children whom we count as good friends. What a wonderful family - and you can see that in all his children's eyes and grandkids and more...they are truly all what this sport is about. See you on the flip side Pops...Love from Joan Brewster, Jack Brewster and family.

                      See you in Alky Heaven

My deepest sympathy to the entire Augustine family. Although I haven't raced in over 20 years, Pop & I shared quite a few happy memories each time we'd see eachother. He was a true gentleman and will certainly be missed. Our prayers are with you. Joe Tomaini
