I would be In IF
The SORC ever let the 55h unit be run on a 44xs. Every year I asked about it I got the run around. To big a deal I guess, and not worth all that red tape you have to go through for the SORC. I was told I had to submit freaking papers on testing, scamatics of the unit and prove availablilty, etc. Basically there were far to many hula hoops to go through. Otherwise I would have been running DSR long ago. To expensive for me to get into as an extra class if I have to purchase new stuff. I already have a boat, and can easily build a 44xs powerhead and find a tower. But gearboxes... ya right. I can find 55H units around for reasonable.
So if any of you have an extra engine and I am at one of your races I would be happy to participate.
And before you all jump on me about the Tahotsu, I would love to, just can't fund all the classes I run and that too.Dave Mason

Dave, Stock Outboard is not a "run whatcha brung" category, that is why there is a Modified category. Stock, by definition, has more stringent rules on the equipment than mod and to a similar extent, mod has more strict rules than the Pro category. See how that works? There is something for everybody. Sorry to hijack your thread.Last edited by csh2z; 01-10-2008, 02:03 PM.John Runne

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.
True parity is one motor per class.
It's RACING, not just another boat ride!

The 55H gearbox IS a stock gearbox that came STOCK on a D Stock engine. The original 55H. The only way to run this combination is to run a 55H engine completely stock, 55H Tower, gearbox and powerhead. We all know that this is not a competitive rig at most local races. Since the 44XS gearbox and the 55H gearbox ARE identical internally I don't know why it is not allowed. The only difference is the 44XS gearbox has a cressant and the 55H does not.
So John, a few years ago I proposed this to my commissioner in R6. It never got any further. The class was dying at the time, and my friends that raced D Stock in MI were having a tough time getting 4 boats to show up at a local race. My mindset then was I wanted to help them run for points and keep the class alive in R6 until a growth solution could be figured out. I could easily put together a 44XS powerhead in stock form. I had a tower from APBA and no gearbox except a 55H. Well, I guess someone felt this combination would beat the pants off all the D stocks currently racing and set all new records, raising the bar so high that the 44xs with a 44xs gearbox would never be competitive. I truly don't think this combination is a what you brung type classification. It was all frigging stock and from tower bought from APBA. Oh well, not my fight, and not my concern anymore.
Ed,
I scaled way back on posts, seems like the same thing every year. Same arguments, same people, etc. Hell, even Ryan Runne quit posting so much. The game must have grown boring. We been enjoying learning lawyer 101.Dave Mason
