Another question, Why aren't Y202 motors legal in CSH/CSR?

Silas, the Yamatos we get are factory rebuilt after being used for a season in Japan. We should know quite a bit about the next generation of Yamato long before any are actually available outside of the original use in Japan.
I haven't heard of any advances in the prototype to a future 4 stroke Yamato beyond the first we heard on Hydroracer a year or more back; so it is probably still too heavy, too slow and too complicated.
There is another possible alternative motor after the supply of 302's is depleted in 2020 or so ... since Yamato refused to sell new motors to Korea for their paramutual racing, Hyundai is working on a prototype for use there. We may be able to buy them the same way we now buy Yamatos. Who knows ... they may even be better and cheaper But all that is such a long way out in the future it is sort of like worrying about living on Mars

It is very strong and have tested it several times on my red Altralite ...It runs not too far off to my 25XS on the black rig (maybe you have seen it run?)........Still, no matter how "FAST" yer rig is,........ YA STILL GOTT'A HAVE THE NADS TO DRIVE IT!.....At Whitney Point last year, I was wish'n I'd brought the O'l Pavlik instead'a the Altralite cause of the conditions (Would'a helped also to have a set of 25year old knees! ) ....You better have "BIG ONES" to git out there with Ryan, Joe Silvestri, John Runnie, Williams, Allen, Pater, ETC..................This is the NASCAR class of kneel downs and it ROCKS HARD!........Joel Wiegle still can run outfront with em with a 16+year old heavy wood-rig cause he can ....DRIVE......( with a big grin-on as he pass's ya on the outside while look'n ya in the eye )

202 ?
I believe we should keep moving in the direction of "In Stock" motors in APBA Stock Outboard
the 202 sounds appealing.... if I was racing OSY sound like the motor to have..Attached Files

This is also what I have previously referred to in reference to my comments about how quickly the Tohatsu was approved in D Stock. Bass Machines may feel that they were given a hard time. But Ric Montoya can tell them how bad it can really get.
It was close to a decade after the initial application for the 202 in C Stock before any new engine was made legal in that class. If you want to talk about being competitive, the timeline gets much longer.14-H

A Reason to Approve the 202
Here's the best one: It would allow the NBRA guys to compete in APBA C Stock. Nearly all of them have 202's. Instead we force these guys to run OSY-400 in the PRO category if they want to race at an APBA event.
Put a 1.0" height restriction on it if you APBA C guys think the NBRA guys will beat you.Last edited by 14-H; 01-10-2008, 11:29 AM.14-H

I would agree with Mike ... one of our "out of the box" 302's came with a warped exhaust manifold that was not checked before leaving Japan ... no biggie though because Ric repaired it.

Yamato`s
Out of the 4 or 5 NBRA races I competed in last season (CSH) there may have been 1 or 2 Yamato 202`s used. Mostly 102`s and a few 302`s (that I could tell). I borrowed a strong 202 during 1 race, and it wasn`t any faster than my 102 according to my GPS, and acceleration was the same.

The most reward'n RACE I ran last year was test'n with my buddy Archie and watch'n his 15 HOT-ROD on my red Altralite, pull away from my A-MOD 22/OMC on my Black Altralite......and the grin on his 71+ year-young face...........

Ed and the SORC,
First of all my 102 came before my class CSH was a two motor class. Two motor classes are a turn off to me! A big one! To many motors have different power bands so you end up creating a situation of needing one motor for a short course and one for a long. APBA isn't NASCAR and does a poor job of taking care of issues that are important. LIKE why was the height rule changed for CSH last year under a "safety issue" Show me the data on accidents in 2006 that supported that. Political BS. The sad thing is King Ed is the one guy like his ideas or not that actually gets anything he wants done! ( Thats a compliment Ed. As good as it gets beeootttchh)
This thread is a joke. Racers all have opinions. The SORC this year as every year prior needed/s to invest in accurate, solid test data. Not smoke and mirrors that creates more problems. Show me the data on the 202 vs. the 102 and 302 until that time take this idea and put it over your fathers bald spot on his head. The Stock Outboard Division is going to 2 motor class me right out and into another category. Good luck Scott Reed! Hopefully you will be different and the difference Stock Outboard needs!
Mike Barrett
PS: I would be racing DSH right now if it wasn't for all the BS with that class. Get it straight and I will buy one!Last edited by racingfan; 01-14-2008, 05:05 PM.

This thread engages in nothing but harmless conversation. But, I guess that's my opinion.
PS. If it weren't for HydroRacer, I would know nothing of this alleged BS around the D stock class (No offense Dan). At every race I've been to with my Tohatsu, I've been met with nothing but good sportsmanship. And that's a fact.

Didn't you run for Commissioner last year or the year before ? Did not get elected as I seem to recall. Perhaps your opinion, right or wrong, is not the same as the majority of Stockers. But everyone is entitled to an opinion, that is for sure. Shame for you to quit over a difference of opinion. Heck, if I were to quit everytime my opinions were met with resistence, I woul dhave been fishing 15 years ago or more. It seems lately that the ladies have a different opinion of me than myself, but that does not stop me from the game, or cause me to switch categories.Dave Mason

Thanks so much for your concern and sensative nature. There are so many men that aren't in touch with their feminine side like you are. I never said I quit. If I was going to quit you would have changed my mind!!! Great job!! Thanks for the motivational words of sensative wisdom.
As far as you and your lady problems.....There are many sites online that can help. Sometimes people try to pretend to be something that they aren't. Anyway...Google "Coming Out Stories". I think you have a monkey on your back!? You will feel better when you can just come out and say "Yes, I am gay". You are not alone Dave. Other boatracers are just like you!! Good luck!
Mike
PS:OR Maybe I got you all wrong and the internet isn't a good way to judge someone or to form an opinion of somebody at all? Hmmmmmmmm....Ahh hek Dave its more fun this way isn't it?Last edited by racingfan; 01-15-2008, 01:13 PM.
