Any rule changes proposed for 2008

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SO Chairman.......... Are there any new rules proposed for 2008. I thought I'd ask now as testing will start soon, and I'd like to know what's up for 2008.

Get your agenda items to your Commissioners....

Your posts are always a belly laugh ..... but back to Skippy ....

read closer ... "SO Chairman" it says ...

We don't need any OSY changes ... hint hint .... we are still trying to recover from last year's CSH ____

at least we agree on that it would be nice to know what's on the agenda... so we know which new props are now paper weights....

            all in good fun

                Play it safe Dan

Assume that we're going to screw up the class and all your props are paperweights, throw them all away (or give them to Gomer) and start over.

                  Training for rules

                  AND....

People bring their own driving styles (own set of standards) into the turn judge boat with them.
Well there are a number of solutions here -- one being videoing every first turn etc.

But the other thing is that reading a rule is one thing; interpreting it on the race course is another -- both for the driver and for the judge. So this becomes an issue of training.

You train folks on the rule and what it means -- and of course that means that there must be some level of concensus as to what the rule means.

You train folks who are judging on how to interpret the rule and you measure their performance. If there are complaints that someone is letting stuff go, then they do not get to make calls. Some folks should not be put in this position.

And you train drivers on what is legal and what is not -- and that they have a responsibility to keep their fellow drivers safe. This is a hobby not a professional sport. The sport needs to police itself and that only happens when those in the sport are in agreement with the way the rules are written, and with the interpretation of these rules.

To all region 6 racers. If you have issues that you would like discussed at the region meeting. Please send them to my e-mail address. dubber75m@comcast.net This is were the rules get changed and if you don,t bring up whats on your mind then you can't complain when a rule gets changed. I will forward on the issues sent to me so Scott Read our new chairman can get them into the agenda. Being the past SO secratary it is important to have these issues in several weeks before the meeting so it can be put into writing for all the SO commision and also any attendies to have during the 3 days of meeting. They go right down the line and and you only get your chance one time to bring these ideas to light at the meeting. Hope all the Michigan racers can attend and look forward to seeing my other family again. Mikey
