    Wow

All I can say about all the pictures is WOW!
    Both trailers are very nice.
Just curious about the trailer with the red racks in it,.....Any idea how many hours you have invested? It sure looks well worth the time.

    Thanks again for the pictures!

The posts for the racks are made out of unistrut. One side of it is open and use a special nut that can be tightened anywhere up and down the leg. The knee braces are out of 1" square tubing. All the motor stands are made out of 2"X1/4" wall square tubing and 2" sch 80 pipe for the post. One stand has some 2'X3"X1/4" wall rec tubing. I am a welder/pipefitter by trade so the welding was not a problem. The hardest thing was figuring out the double swing joint motor stand on the driver side of the trailer. As far as how much time I have, well probably too much but it sure is nice to use when I get to the races. The floor was ordered from the factory.

I have to give my dad Larry credit on the double swing motor stand. I can hall 4 boats 6 4cyl motors and 3 pull carts in a 20' trailer.

        metal work

We just installed a "Metalworker" in the shop. It has shear, punch, break, and bender. I will definitely be using it when I build racks. My Mig is set up with very large diameter wire for working on mining equipment so my welding will be good old stick. It won't come out as nice as yours, but yours has given me some ideas.

        Thanks again!

You need air conditioning like Tetro has. He also has a neat awning which rolls up and down. He puts it down at night to cover his boats in the pits.

I can rent space in a locked facility, with live in attendants for around $65-$75 per month here in the Wesley Chapel area. I think if done right, an enclosed trailer can provide a nice retreat in times of inclement weather and such, and especially if you have to endure a 12 hour day at a stock race.

I hear you. I can't leave my trailer out either. That's why I have a very small trailer so I can pull it in my garage myself. Sadly, my rig is probably worth as much or more than my can.

I have a tandem axel 7 X 14 V-nose Cargo Mate trailer that I haul one CSR and one CSH in. I bought the package that came with the diamond plate along the bottom half of the nose, 3' side door and roof vent. I tried to buy the smallest trailer I could get away with yet still haul my equipment in. I did this because I use either my Durango with the 4.7 V-8 or my dad's minivan with a 305 V-8 to tow the trailer. The sides of my trailer are made out of a plywood fiberglass composite which saved on weight and there are no screws or rivets which makes for a nicer outside finish. However, there are no wall studs to attach racks and such to so you have to be a little more creative when attaching everything inside the trailer. The boat racks and swing out motor rack are all one unit fastened through the floor to the frame rails. I do have one 5 X 18" deep cabinet attached to each side wall and a cabinet and workbench along one side of the V. My only suggestion to anyone buying an enclosed trailer would be to buy one with the V-nose. It gives you more room up front and really makes a difference in MPG because the trailer cuts through the wind very easily. Good luck with your purchase and be sure to show us what you end up with.

                8.5x24

                A 7' X 14' at the local dealer is $4,100.
This trailer is 8.5' X 24'. If I drive to Douglas Ga. and pick it up it is $4,300. Maybe I can make a stop in Douglas then head to Jesup in March
Does this sound like a reasonable price? It has ramp door, side door and V nose.

                  8.5x24...

That seems like a lot of trailer for a low price. I've found that you get what you pay for, a rock bottom price might look good for the wallet but might not get you a trailer that will last for years of abuse. I'd stick with one of the larger name companies, that way you know your getting a quality trailer for your money. Just my two cents... Greg Lyons

                    Trailer

Sounds like a good deal on that trailer, nice size too. I`m familiar with that trailer company in Douglas, and they sell alot of them. I don`t recall if this was mentioned before, but spend the extra money and get the torsion type axles versus the leaf spring supported type. The smoother ride pays for itself in the long run- kinder to your equipment and trailer as well. Like Greg says- you pay for what you get. Spend what you can afford, and then add just a little more. You will be happier in the long run- with the trailer that is.

                      Greg,
Your two cents is greatly appreciated! I have no experience buying enclosed trailers so I am absorbing all the info you guys give me. These trailers are supposedly built by a former Haulmark employee, but supposedly is not a guarantee.

To all that have replied,... Thank you! I can buy mining equipment with no problem but I need education on enclosed trailers. You guys are being a huge help.

                      Thanks

                        More input...

I'm not sure if you've already made up your mind on the rear door configuration, but here's my input. Before I add any info, I just want to make clear that a ramp setup works great for some people and I'm not saying that either is better then the other, just 'different strokes for different folks', ya know?! I have the barn door style, which works great for our pits, loading the boats, and size of pit spot. At the races up and down the East Coast, the pits are somewhat congested if you want to be near the water - and who doesn't? A 7'x8' ramp extended out from the rear of the trailer takes up alot of precious space, space not usable for boats or work benches, where as the barn doors can swing open and out of the way leaving all the space to the rear of the trailer open for boats/dollies/benches. The cables from the ramp door are a problem too, they are both in the way and a safety issue, but like mentioned earlier they can be covered with foam, though still in the way. As for loading, I find the ramp setup to be harder on your back because your bending over to load, with the barn doors you can stand flat on the ground and load a boat at a comfortable height, no worrying about a wet slippery ramp with expensive equipment in your hands as well. About the only draw back my doors have is the inability to nap on a nice incline, but that's what friends with ramp door trailers are for! Greg

having owned several enclosed trailerswhile DRAG RACING-let me give you some advice-checkfor 4 wheel brakes , and ratings -size of tires-keep tires inflated to recommedations at all times, doors check out hinges and fit on all doors, sides and rear- check weatherseals and overhangs to prevent drainage, best trailers made are EDge by PACE and upperline Haulmarks, figure how much space you will need then add at least 10 to 15%, not much difference in weight or towing a 24 ft to a 28 to 30 footer,my 30 ft enclosed Grainger pulled easier than the 24 Vintage I had, both were top of the line trailers, believe me you do not want diamond plate floors in a boat trailer, it is pretty but slick and hard to maintain, make surre you use "equalizer bars and good braking system"--get it low as possible these things pull like a "log cart" going down the road, just my 2 cents worth....

                            Hey Daren

                            Daren,
With Dan expanding TEAM BYRNE I've been thinking that his trailer may be a bit small to haul all the boats and drivers gear to the long haul races that are planned this season.
Well I found this one... It comes with it's own easy-up and room to sleep and the best part.. no more stops at McDonald's.....

                            Maybe Guido can drive.........

                            Enjoy...

                              Doors

I am having a hard time with the rear doors. I have heard great theories for each. I will have to decide before Jesup. My old Crown Victoria station wagon had a rear door that went both ways. That would be nice, but next to impossible i would imagine.

Got the trailering upgrade put on the Expedition today. Heavier duty sway bars and suspension components as well as transmission package with remote spin on filter. My wife has no idea what was done to her truck today.

Everything I have considered so far has drop torsion tube axles.

I really do appreciate all the advice! Thanks again.

Im moving to Fl in the near future in the Spring Hill area and the first thing I check if there are deed restrictions which there are none in that area and some of the houses I looked at had enclosed trailers in the yards. I bought this trailer to move with and will be my race trailer after so havent put the racks in yet or the other things but will get to it after moving. I didnt get the beaver tail reason being the last 4 ft of floor goes down hill and anything that you sit there ends up against the rear door and will unload itself when you open it. The only thing the beaver tail is for is asisting getting a car in and out so the bottom doesnt hang up.
